Arizona Helped Deport Thousands Without New Law
WASHINGTON -- Without the benefit of their state's strict new immigration law, officers from a single Arizona county helped deport more than 26,000 illegal immigrants from the U.S. through a federal-local partnership program that has been roundly criticized as fraught with problems.
Statistics obtained by The Associated Press show that the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office was responsible for deportations or forced departure of 26,146 immigrants since 2007.
That's about a quarter of the national total of 115,841 sent out of the U.S. by officers in 64 law enforcement agencies deputized to help enforce immigration laws,
some since 2006, under the so-called 287(g) program.

Re: Remember in November
Our Sheriff said that regardless of SB1070 he would continue business as usual deporting illegals.
Re: Remember in November
The Sheriff is a hell of lot more American....than that appointed, bought and paid for Federal Judge....with the "Monica" stain on her robes.......
Re: Remember in November
I heard a different take on the judge's ruling. She said that the Feds need to uphold the laws on the books. That's not gonna happen and there will be an appeal to the judge's ruling.
Re: Remember in November
Obama will never allow immigration laws to be enforced.

I agree with you Rugg....When I read what you wrote...this is what came to my mind...."There's a hell of a difference between a Federal Judge telling the rest of the Fed's "what they need to do" and ordering Arizona "not to comply" with certain facets of their law"....anyway, that's how I took it....ruggbutt wrote:I heard a different take on the judge's ruling. I am curious to know....How many arrests in your county today...and of what type?
