Pudfark wrote:One little problem with your "rebuttal"...you "progressives" don't enforce the law or your rules...reference your reply on "Forfeiture".....and apply greed, lie and cheat to it.......
puire bullshit. My reply re: forfeiture was stating realistic views of enforcement in Accomack County, VA. No 'progressive' theory or practice, just reality. Where the fuck do you get the idea that Progressives 'don't enforce the law'?

False, people are just as susceptable to victimization, educated or not.....reference: accidental discharges with muskets vs machineguns....Further, Slick, you are the one selling tickets to a third world status...you and the "Bull Moose/shit party"... Your "global ideas" for the economy....cannot be followed, unless enforced on all equally....An ideal that you don't hold to personally....
more bullshit, hence the emphasis Jefferson and others put on an educated populace, coupled with a free press. Educated people with access to information get bamboozled far less often. As for the 'global ideas', it is Progressives that are fighting against stuff like NAFTA and similar 'globablization' efforts, as they simply pull American workers into competition with workers elsewhere that make $2 or 3 a day.

Here is some common sense for you Slick....When the nation was founded...it was an agrarian "capitalist" society...when the industrial revolution occurred...more capitalists were added...along with additional prosperity for the country as a whole....reference: a larger middle class and an elevated lifestyle which allowed for more education and opportunity to become a "capitalist"...
sorry, bunky, but you're wrong again. Check your history. Such middle class opportunity didn't open up until after Progressives established strong regulation, anti-trust laws and Unions, coupled with a few enlightened industrialists, pulled the workers into the ranks of mass consumers. Try, if you can, to educate yourself, or else you merely keep illustrating my point about suckering the poorly educated.
Your last sentence is my favorite....here we go.... People have always been "exploited" for their labor and always will...Reference: sweaters vs thinkers and contrast that with your "progressive ideals" and you will quickly find out.....that with no sweaters...you gonna starve to death in yer mansion.... I don't really care for your whining about what occurred a hundred years ago, those conditions are not relevant now....What I do care about? The destruction of middle class America fomented by "Progressives"....who were and are the elitist Capitalists hiding behind the "poor man's" plight, masquerading their intentions to destroy the middle class...... Poor folks did not start the "Progressive Movement", Capitalists did. Reference: Teddy Roosevelt and Friends.....
ignorance displayed once again, although you are right that the Progressive movement has relied upon enlightened patricians(capitalists? somewhat, but open to social programs and government regulation) to better the nation for ALL people. If you think a system dominated by folks in mansions with no regard for the 'sweaters' isn't possible, you simply have no concept of reality. It occurs all over, and is called oligarchy.
And, that is the precise end point of 'small government, low taxes': A handful of rich folks enjoying the money while the rest toil for pennies a day, with no power, no support and no hope.

and here's ruggie, the anti-intellectual, showing that he cannot form a simple sentence in his native tongue. Unions did serve as a major deterrent to sweatshops and child labor. You would dispute this?

And here's you not knowing the difference between present tense (which is what the people can affect or change) and the past. I'll give you the same response I gave you last time you lipped off about sweatshops and child labor. None of those is a problem any more, hasn't been for at least 70 years. Unions could disappear tomorrow and the U.S. would be a better place. Any disagreements or issues that the unions used to handle can now be handled with lawyers. And there aren't that many real issues. If you'd be so kind, please post a link to any news article regarding sweatshops or child labor that's happened even in the last decade. Otherwise your revisionist history is as irrelevant as the unions truly are.

Slick said "did", not "do"

rather humorous that you would say such a thing, as my reference to Unions was in a context of 1880-1920,
and then you start this idiocy.

I had a good laugh at your long winded and silly attempt to refute what I wrote above....

In this country, we have roughly three classes of people....the "poor", "middle class" and the "Capitalist Elite".....Why are the "Progressives" trying to eliminate one of the classes? Why are the "Progressives" not adding to their own "Capitalist Elite" class? Is it that they don't want anybody to be poor? Or is it, they don't want any new members to their class? Folks here need to remember, that Slick comes from "old money"....and people like him, will say or do anything to protect that "old money"....especially, if in the end, it is at your expense.... What Slick ain't telling nobody and never will.....what he is gonna get at the end? I have already alluded to it in this paragraph.............

damn, this thread might actually keep going until November 2. At which time, we'll see what we have on our hands. Oh, and Pud, don't expect a real response to your last post above. Starting out with an erroneous and oversimplified description of 'classes' in America, you continue on such a level of ignorance as to be unworthy of any real answers. You see, that's the problem, you aren't seeking answers, you want no solutions for America's problems, you just want to spread discord and hatred. How patriotic of you.

and your point, other than exposing the fact you've turned into a complete imbecile? If you put your reading glasses on, you might have noticed that Pud was asking about Early 20th century Progressives.
