so what?
100 million for a mosque and how much spent on PR to disavow any connection or sympathy with the other muslim/moslem/ arab terrorists?
are you suggesting that all, or even most, Muslims are terrorists? If so, please have the balls to say so.
And, please don't try a spoon out any more shit about how they rushed in and helped at the towers....they didn't know who did it, did they?
you could read the New York press, but that would assume you can read and comprehend.
Who is funding the mosque?
a long-standing organization in the New York City region.
Why the proximity?
because, given NYC property prices, this property was available and affordable. An original uptown site was too pricey when they first looked at it a couple years back.
Everybody here knows the law in this country.
Which law are you referring to? Because it sure isn't the Freedom of Religion as mentioned in the Constitution. I guess the Constitution is only sacred to you when you agree with it, right, Rube?
Why are the muslims/moslems being an asshole about this?
I don't think it is the Muslims to blame for any silly outcry. They just quietly bought the Burlington Shirt Factory, and applied for the necessary permits. It was right wing extremists(should I point out ANTI-AMERICAN right wing extremists?) who chose to try and make a mockery of this nation's great tradition of religious tolerance. Once again, please google up 'New Amsterdam and Quakers' and see that New York has a history of rejecting religious intolerance.

Only the ones that truly believe and follow the Koran.

And before you start with your "righteous indignation" crap it was only about 700 years ago that Christianity was looked upon like most of us look upon Islam. Or have you forgotten about the Spanish Inquisition? Or how about what was going on in your neck of the woods when people were being called witches and punished as such? Islam is to today's christianity as what the Inquisition was to Christianity back in the day.

let's revisit the rules of basic conversation. I asked the question of Pudfark/Rube. It didn't beg an answer from you. I explained earlier the variations of interpretation of the Koran, and that the religion clearly has no mandate to read any of it in a literal fashion. But, then again, you never actually read the whole thing, nor studied the religion, so you're just stating your own uniformed opinion here, right?
And before you start with your "righteous indignation" crap it was only about 700 years ago that Christianity was looked upon like most of us look upon Islam.
I think you're off by about a millenium, or have Protestantism mixed up with Christianity as a whole. Anyhow, do two wrongs make any lunatic condemnation of the religious right?
Or have you forgotten about the Spanish Inquisition?
a point which proves Monty Python's statement: No one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition.
Or how about what was going on in your neck of the woods when people were being called witches and punished as such?
Um, my neck of the woods includes Pennsylvania(Quakers and Lutherans) and Virginia(Methodists and Baptists). All of those groups came because intolerant fools like yourself made life in England unpleasant.
None of them had any involvement in 'witch hunts'.
Islam is to today's christianity as what the Inquisition was to Christianity back in the day.
this analogy is as fucked up as a soup sandwich.

Like the uninformed opinion you have that I've never read it? When I was younger and more liberal (yeah, it's a shocker huh?) I was looking for something in my life. I studied most of the world's "popular" religions. While I most likely can be labeled a christian I don't like that label because there's so much wrong with the translations in the bible, by King James' scholars to bring it in line with his political beliefs. From what I know and have read the Koran is pretty much stayed the same since it was written. Same with the Torah. My point being that I've read much more than most adult humans have. If I have an interest I take the journey. My "spiritual" journey went on for 12 years. I've formed my opinions, about all religions. I know more about the Koran and Mohammed than most American born muslims do. And my opinion, formed on the basis of study and reading the book tells me that to be a true muslim you have to follow the writings. Which are violent in some instances and calls for death upon you and I since we don't believe.

If you'd like to start a religion thread I'll tell ya a whole bunch of shit that's wrong and misrepresented in today's bible. The majority of them sold in this country come from a King James translation. Now while some people don't think that's bad the bible (all of them) say that Halil (Satan, the Devil, etc) deceives the earth. How better to do so than to re-write the book of our creator?

interesting topic for another day, Ruggie. I can see the weather is cooling, you're starting to form coherent sentences. Still, somewhere in your spiritual journey, did you not hear the part about the role interpretation of the Koran by the Imam plays? There is really no such thing as a 'True Muslim' by your definition. The Koran is for interpretation, and is full of allegory, it is not a book to be taken literally.

Slick...how much do you agree with the jihadi interpretation? Allegory or literally?

Do you believe in the separation of "Church and State" ??? Or, only when it suits your interests.....????

not at all. It's very much counter to what most Muslims believe.

I was brought up in a household that held that to be one of the cornerstones of the American system. I haven't deviated much at all from that.

and you remind me of so many others on the extreme right. Nothing to say, ever, of substance.

Has it ever occurred to any one of you clowns that this administration might actually be trying to anger the average american retard against the muslim community in order to diminish popular resistance to, say, an invasion of Iran?

You're so fucking gullible.

Obama=Clinton=Bush Sr=dubya=McCain

They're puppets that they put in front of you so you can't see what goes on behind the scenes, where the same people have the true power, and have had it for decades if not centuries.
