and explain, Nic, what earthly purpose 'those people' would wish to attack Iran for? Second, I can safely assure you, most of 'those people' were fucking appalled that we invaded Iraq.nicolas10 wrote:the same people have the true power, and have had it for decades if not centuries.
Let's look at it a different way. Say the ATF wanted to build a building in Waco, where they killed a dozen or so children. Wouldn't you think that would go over as well as a lead balloon? Some of us feel the same way about the mosque.Daiichidoku wrote:is there some country called "muslim" that i havent heard of?
it is by americans, for americans
too late for that. Zoning was approved months ago, the final step was certification that the building held no special historical preservation protection. It was the hearing on that matter that drew the sudden(can you say "election year politics"?) national brouhaha.ruggbutt wrote: The smart thing to do is to explain that they aren't going to zone it for that neighborhood and have them move on.
One can only hope that the vast majority of Americans see the right and wrong on this sort of thing. I think they do. Even with the scars which most New Yorkers still carry over the matter of 9/11, a surprisingly large number defend this building project strongly. That many oppose it strongly is understandable as well. That and only that (IMHO) will sidestep what many of us see as coming if it's built. As much as I'm no fan of muzzies I was outraged when someone killed a muslim here shortly after 9/11. I can understand the anger but it was wrong.
