I thought this thread was about the execution of Pat Tillman.

no, I'd like his family to be allowed to know what actually happened, and why the government at the time tried(briefly) to use it for patriotic boo-rah. Actually, it would be sort of nice if ALL of us were able to find out why a member of the US Army was executed by his fellow soldiers.

And in that sentence you show all of us how you really feel about the military. The word executed presumes intent. It's doubtful that they shot at their own on purpose.

you need to stick comments like that in yer hind end.

For you to demand an explanation for an "execution" ? When the closest personal danger you've experienced? Hangnail and a hemorrhoid .....you lack the experience and common sense required to comprehend any answer from the military....and further, your not entitled to one.

you are suggesting that US Army Rangers put two rounds, apparently 4 inches apart, into the guy's head by accident? In an open terrain(check out new documentary on the subject)?

Jeezus H. Christ, why don't you just call soldiers baby killers too? And I saw pictures in a documentary where the firefight happened. It was hilly terrain with large rocks.

I think you'll find, Ruggie, that the initial placement of Tillman's death was wrong(I'm not going to say whether the error was intentional misinformation or not). The updated report showed it to be open terrain about 3 miles away from the initial report. Further, it is now clear that there were no enemy fighters being engaged, or even close by. I'm sure, at your age, you must know someone who was an Army Ranger. Those guys, among other attributes, have steller scores on the range prior to Ranger training. Something has always stunk about that whole incident, the family knows it, yet no one presses for a full investigation. Why?

I am not saying this in any way to inpugn all troops. To the contrary, something happened of a very irregular nature there. I am saying that the initial response from our nation's leadership was to falsely paint Pat Tillman's death as a heroic death in a firefight with the enemy. Hence, 'Patriotism Exploited'.
