This videotape shows Russian Navy commandos on a Somalian pirate ship shortly after the pirates had captured a Russian oil tanker. The Euro Union navy that patrols these waters would not interfere because they feared there could be casualties.
All explanations are in Russian with a single exception of when a wounded pirate says something in English and the Russian soldier says "This is not a fishing boat.". All conversations between the commandos are in Russian. If you don't understand Russian, the pictures speak for themselves.

The soldiers freed their compatriots and the tanker. The Russian Navy Commandos moved the pirates back to their own (pirate) ship, searched the pirate ship for weapons and explosives and then they left the ship and exploded it with all remaining pirates hand-cuffed to it.
The commandos sank the pirate ship along with the pirates and without any court proceedings, lawyers etc. That is, they used the anti-piracy laws of the 18th and 19th centuries where the captain of the rescuing ship has the right to decide what to do with the pirates. Usually, they were hung.
Ivan was takin care of bid'ness.

WWBHOD? Answer: Blame it on George Bush, make excuses for the US, and apologize to the pirates.
I call BS on that one.

On the video the guys on the pirate ship deny that it is a pirate ship after armament is found in it. However the text says that the pirates were captured AFTER they had hijacked a tanker and had been assaulted by russian troops.

Then why the fuck would they bother saying it's a fishing ship?

Doesn't make sense whatsoever.

They are supposed to have been fought on another ship and brought back and interrogated on their own ship?

The guy is laying on the ground injured on that ship you think he was carried and dropped there?

If they have attacked another boat, how come their weapons were still hidden in their own ship?

Come on it's obvious it's BS.

Nic, from what I read, the russians stormed the ship killed one. Upon returning them to their ship they took fire and wounded at least one more- all were removed them to their ship.
After a search finding boarding tools- they handcuffed them to the rails and blew the ship.
Various news agencys reported it in various ways, just skirting around what really happened.
Maritime law.
There were forces in the area that chose not to interfere as well.
I cant imagine any nation just walking away unless they have hands on knowledge. I mean for craps sake we get animal rights nutters filming whaling crews, with all the cameras sailors have, murder would have made it to youtube faster than this vid did.
Its a not a good place to be, and with all the military in that area, why on earth would you have boarding tools if you were just a fishing boat?
I spotted a few who weren't Somali obviously, either forced into it, or mercenary types.
I cant say I'm really offended by what happened. Shocked, yes, outraged..not so much.
