My salary, at one time, was cut and frozen for several years and...
I kept "playing"....80+ hours a week....for 27+ years....

I retired at age 48...with the equivalent of, more than 50 years of service,
hour for hour...based on the typical 40 hour week....

All of that time, "endowed" and trusted with more responsibility,

Nope, no donut places in "leroy land"...no open restaurants either...just 3 hour old coffee...
Most of my time started at night shift....worked by myself...as did most others....we were that short handed.
When I hired on....They were 2000 officers short...and never got caught up....not even, before I retired....

Five months after I retired....I just fell out, totally...exhausted...Went to see the Doc and was told...
I had the worst case of Sleep Apnea they had ever seen or "hear'd" Funny thing, during that 5 months...
I bought an airplane (Tail Dragger) and learned to fly it....Lucky me, I should have ended up as a lawn dart in W. Texas...

Bad luck fer some of y'all...that I didn't....

To be serious for a moment. I've done a lot of long weeks trucking, but I only let myself go so far. No job was worth getting run down as bad as what you did.

"assuming your talking a 5 day work week which is what you implied, your saying you worked 16hrs a day for 27 years???? and with a typical commute 45 minutes each way that's 18 hours a day spent effectually at work. so that leaves you 6 hours a day to eat, sleep, shit, shower, shave, and have a family???

I work 55 a week and I don't have enough time to do the things I need to do and to spend the quality time with my family
