that's fine, Rugg. I respect that viewpoint. I should have worded it, "if you don't mind.....". The point of my question was toward the point I made earlier. If you buy the stuff at spot cost, you have to go through the London exchange, and they charge a hefty fee to store it for you. If you buy coins, there is a markup that is substantial. I've never thought gold to be anything other than one step away from putting money in a mattress, but some coinage is probably a viable little stash to have. As any sort of substantial portfolio, even silver makes more sense, and I wouldn't be too keen on that one, either.

The market is made to be unattractive to discourage people.
And yes there is money to be made from betting against some companies before they go down after people launch rumors, but that is thievery.
