maybe they could have kept the Whitehouse open instead of giving money to a terrorist organization.

"Obama’s real priority is a deal on a fiscal plan that will encourage the economy and get him out of a place where his team has to explain why Vice President Joe Biden’s room-service tabs and a Yale study of mallard genitalia take precedence over White House tours and other federal expenses."

love how all of a sudden people get all angst ridden over Presidential/VP travel. Oh, and research was funded several budgets ago, and IMHO, anyone who dismisses scientific research is working on moron status, as it often yields unexpected economic benefits, no matter how implausible it sounds.

so it's OK for the President to ruin everyone else travel plans by canceling White-house tours effective immediately with no cares to their travel plans, but the President/VP himself cannot cut back and stay at a cheaper location. HRM let them eat cake perhaps.

its called leadership. A leader doesn't ask people to do what his is not willing to do himself.

please, find me ONE PERSON whose entire trip to Washington got ruined or cancelled because they couldn't stand in line for the White House tour. Frankly, those tours are generally the provenence of folks connected with Senators and Congresspeople, who get them into the place as part of a junket into town, so you might get an idea of who the targets really were. Have you ever taken the tour? Do you know many DC vistors who have?

THAT SIR IS A BULLSHIT COP-OUT ANSWER
just because you cannot defend the President and VP living high on the hog while the rest of us need to cut is not our problem.

Maybe the President could have left his personal food taster at home when he went on this trip. and yes the King has a food taster.

apparently he thought the GOP members of congress were going to poison him
President Obama took to the Hill this week to mend fences with the GOP but he stopped short of actually breaking bread with conservatives in Congress, supposedly because he didn't have his cup bearer in tow at the Capitol.

The Secret Service won't confirm if the president does indeed have a 'Taster-in-Chief' to monitor the president's food but Republican Senator Susan Collins revealed the president wasn't able to eat at the Thursday luncheon given in his honor because of the security measure.

While Republican Senators chowed down on a delicious menu of lobster, potato chips and blueberry pie, the president was left salivating and longingly eying the delicacies.

Senator Collins had organized the Thursday pow wow, held in the Lyndon B. Johnson Room off the Senate chamber, and paid homage to her home state of Maine with a bevy of local delicacies.

She said that the menu included, 'University of Maine recipe for healthy lobster salad - I pointed that out to the president in keeping with the first lady’s initiatives and Fox Family Potato Chips made in Aroostook County where I’m from and wild blueberry pie full of anti-oxidants,' according to an audio clip obtained by the Daily Caller.

'We did have a little ice cream on the pie too, also made in Maine, Gifford’s Ice Cream. So in all seriousness this was well received,' she told the press, after the lunch meeting that lasted 90 minutes.

Though GOP Senators who attended the event enjoyed the cuisine, the honored guest had to exercise self control and watch the others pleasure their taste buds.

'Apparently he has to have essentially a taster, and I pointed out to him that we were all tasters for him, that if the food had been poisoned all of us would have keeled over,' Sen. Collins said.
