Tim Scott Declined Invite to Attend MLK March as Spectator
The Senate’s only black lawmaker wasn’t invited to speak at Wednesday’s 50th anniversary March on Washington, because Tim Scott’s office declined an invitation to attend the ceremony as a spectator, according to a source connected to the event.

GOP Official: March on Washington Organizers Ignored Suggestions
Republican Party officials reached out to organizers of this week’s March on Washington commemoration with a series of suggestions for possible GOP speakers, but several of the people they recommended were never contacted with invitations to speak, according to Republican National Committee officials.
Miscommunication and lack of coordination appear to have played a role in at least some of the invites not going out to Republican office-holders. Event organizers say they assumed Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., couldn’t attend, based on a failure to RSVP to an earlier, more general invitation. But his office says he was never actually invited to speak, and he may have been able to attend if he was formally invited.
More than half a dozen different prominent Republicans were invited to speak, but several of the invitations went out quite late in the planning. All sent their regrets.
Sorta seems to me to be deliberate....you're welcome to come stand in the rain...like everybody else and "oopsies, you wanted to talk"? Then, the "invites" went out late? I'd call it disingenuous and deliberate. IMHO.

Re: a cut and paste worth reading, today....
how many people really spoke, anyway.....it seemed a short list, and outside the Pres, everyone I saw on TV had been at the original event(buncha old guys in other words). Nothing would have prevented any of the whiners you noted from speaking to the press, should they feel the need. I'm sure Fox would have aired the interviews, as they seem eager to air the whining.
Speaking of news on TV, is anyone other than me checking in on Al Jazeera America, yet? Not half bad at times, and certainly a different perspective.

Yeah it was a short list. Real short.
Though that was a "lovely" excuse for doing the wrong thing.
Again.
Sleight/Slight of hand.
Arguably, racist.
How's that fer short.

It was a tribute to one of the truly great moments in American history. Get over it, and please, stop whining....it's getting to be grating.

It was beyond rude and did everything to promote political racial disharmony.
All of that on purpose.
Those actions cannot be "excused" away.
Especially, when they were deliberate.
just sayin....

Pudster, the Kunta Kinte Klan thrives in disharmony.
If we all ever stop referring to each other as Asian, White, Black etc
it will be the end of racism and the end of their pay check.

we're about two generations away from most people doing just that. At least, I suspect so, looking at my child and my developing grandkids. There will always be those that judge others based on race, or other equally stupid measures, but fewer and fewer, as time goes on.HappyHappy wrote:Pudster, the Kunta Kinte Klan thrives in disharmony.
