Even in my über-liberal neck of the woods it's like that for years now.
A lot of older people I talked with about this said it made them think of WWII (Ausweis! Schnell!)

oFZo....those older people know it, lived it, were fortunate to survive it...millions did not.... That is history, which is something "progressives" like to change...to suit their agenda....The same agenda as Hitler, Stalin, Mao and many others....

Pudfark, if you are afraid of having a unified ID, must be because you have something to hide.

Uh huh, cuz government snooping into our lives is
totally acceptable. If you aren't afraid of having a unified ID then you must support groups like the Nazis. Cuz if you remember correctly all ze Germans had to have ze papers.

Loco...a little history lesson for you.... No one who has surrendered/lost their rights to the Govt has ever...got them back...
Respectfully, Loco...why are you in this country? For what reasons? Why did you not stay in your own country and change it?
I know that you are fairly new to the forums here....The Govt. here has been slowly implementing a "Unified/Unique I.D. " system for years...it is called A.F.I.S....automated fingerprint identification system...it assigns a unique identifier (number) to each individual....anyone who has submitted their fingerprints for things such as a passport, drivers license, military, criminal..etc. has one...I have had mine for about twenty plus years...I bet you have one....All old fingerprint records have been run through AFIS for years now....with portable fingerprint scanners...most everybody can be i.d. pretty quick....and you don't have to carry a "card" in your pocket.....This attempt for a national I.D. is a control measure in disguise...it has no "real" law enforcement value...unless you lose it, forget to carry it with you...fail to change your address. Then, the Fed's can apply a little "ad valorem" tax/ticket on you.....Criminals don't carry I.D. on their person and this isn't going to make them....Illegals aren't going to have one...and they are not going to be deported.....So, tell me Loco? Who benefits?
I spent the vast majority of my adult life in law enforcement...I retired from it a few years ago...Why would I be afraid of them?...They send my retirement check to the house...I think they know who I am and where I live...I want them to have that info....

So under you argument, they have your fingerprints, they know where you live, they know how much you pay in taxes, they know everything they need to know about you...and you are afraid of a single document which combines all of that?....have you read what you posted? ( and that thing with the ... sounds like you have to stop to breathe, and then start typing again)
Comparing a national biometric system with Mao, Stalin or Hitler is a overused cliche, is plain and simple paranoia, an ID card is not going to send you to a reeducation camp, a system that verifies your citizenship, and your rights, is not going to send you to a concentration camp, try to think like an adult.

That's not the point. It's what they do when they combine that document. Clearly you have no concept of rights but some of us do. We won't give ours up because you're afraid or too ignorant to know better.

Loco...you tell that crap to all the millions who "gave" that information....were rounded up...and murdered....by their government....as of now, there exists no requirement in the U.S. to walk around and carry your name and address in your pocket....What/Whose purpose would it serve? Why? You try to think like an adult, more than one sentence at a time...please...
