each to their own. Bernie Madoff victimized others to the tune of billions. Charlie Rangel pocketed a few bucks he didn't deserve, and didn't report as taxable. Way different. As I said, Charlie Rangel held some rather bold and brave public positions(I gave one example) that I agreed with. As you have stated, most all politicians are up to something less than savory. Frankly, a REAL ethics probe could probably affect 3/4 of the entire Congress, by my best estimate.ruggbutt wrote:I get it. As long as the guy is personable then it's ok to be a sleazy fucker. I heard Bernie Madoff was hilarious.

Using your convoluted type of thinking I could say that Madoff mostly took money from people who were rich (and greedy) in the first place so that's okie dokie.
Fact of the matter is that a thief is a thief whether he's stealing a loaf of bread, taxpayer money or rich people's dough.

That's a great idea! But only if Republicans do it, eh Slick?

Which is why, I have said repeatedly to vote them all out of office and start fresh, with term limitations....Skip all the investigations, flush the toilet and get on with business....it is just that simple.callmeslick wrote: As you have stated, most all politicians are up to something less than savory. I agree completely.....the problem is the issue of 'safe' districts where that never seems to be a remote possibility.Pudfark wrote:Which is why, I have said repeatedly to vote them all out of office and start fresh, with term limitations....Skip all the investigations, flush the toilet and get on with business....it is just that simple.callmeslick wrote: As you have stated, most all politicians are up to something less than savory. Safe districts...no problem...not enough of them to do anything....they will "die out" of their own accord...it make take a few years....but, they will be voted out...and it will have no immediate impact once the "change" is made..... That, by itself, is no reason not to implement the change...all new faces, as many as possible and as soon as possible. Dishonest elected officials cannot make an "Honest" change. Reference the recent past.callmeslick wrote:I agree completely.....the problem is the issue of 'safe' districts where that never seems to be a remote possibility.Pudfark wrote:Which is why, I have said repeatedly to vote them all out of office and start fresh, with term limitations....Skip all the investigations, flush the toilet and get on with business....it is just that simple.callmeslick wrote: As you have stated, most all politicians are up to something less than savory.
