It was probably reported stolen or used in a crime prior to the the Gun Shop acquiring it....When the serial number was entered in NCIC (computer) it was automatically flagged.....For the ATF to make a visit, it was more than a stolen firearm...otherwise, the local cops would have shown up.....

When I had a nice little gunsmithing business..thirty years ago...it was a side job...I thought about getting an FFL...when I found out that I would have to register all my personal firearms.....Hell, No... and that was that....still kept the business, just didn't sell firearms...at least not more than...10-12 per year......Nothing like a good "word of mouth" bidness.....and bidness was good.......

Pudfark, there's a limit on how many new guns in one purchase you can sell.

statistics have shown that over 70% of the arms seized are of US origin. If they are coming from Columbia, they are taking the long route there, my friend.

I know of one instance where the ATF showed up at the store 2 days after the paperwork was faxed in.

ok, so answer this: If some cartel front person makes such purchase, wouldn't the weapons cache be back across the border by the time anyone catches on? As I pointed out to Fatman, Mexican govt statistics indicate that over 70% of the weaponry seized in raids there is of US origin. That has to stop, somehow.

'boots on the ground', especially in Soldier of Fortune, often have an agenda. The facts are the facts, and the guns, while coming from all over, primarily come down through the US. It's a nasty business, drugs to the north, guns and money to the south, and the whole mess could probably be curtailed with a re-write of the drug laws and stricter enforcement of the firearms laws. And, at no point, would the whole sorry mess involve the immigration laws.

You know fuck all about firearms enforcement. That's one thing the Feds are doing right. You get stuck on some stupid idea that you read coming from one of the douchebags in your party and you take it as it came down from the mount. The Feds don't fuck around when it comes to guns. Period. Ever wonder why there's an ATF office in every mid to large city? When the Feds came by after two days they allowed the sale. I've also heard of them disallowing a sale. Hell, I shipped an M1 Garand once that disappeared. Shipped it to Vegas. They caught the people who nabbed it the same week.

in one week? You don't think someone could get across the border from Colorado, Montana or Arizona in under a week? Try under 48 hours.

Either way, you have no argument. I've walked the walk and I talk the talk. Been there done that, all those wonderful sayings. You haven't so it's best you STFU and stop making yourself sound more ignorant. BTW, I still have my logbook and 4473's in case the ATF needs them.

trust me, Ruggie, it hasn't been me making myself sound ignorant. The intelligent ask questions and wonder whether things can be done better. The ignorant can be easily identified by name-calling and telling those that disagree to shut up. Which camp have you fallen into of late?
