well, talking to the tech geeks that I know, further space exploration won't jump start any great wave of new technology that isn't already being applied to commercial use, compared to other fundamental types of development the government could stimulate. I am not a tech geek, so have to take their word on it.Pudfark wrote:I will agree with a little bit of what you said Slick....However, the government has not historically lead in the development of the economy...I nicely point this out using NASA as an example (as you did)....If that were the case with NASA, why would barry cut their funding so severely now?
maybe someone told you it was simply windmills and solar panels, but what the administration is trying to foster is basic work in alternative energy. There are a couple of companies in California, for instance, that are using silicon wafer technology to produce small, self-contained power generation units that show real promise. When you think about windmills and solar panels and how they tried to shove it down our throats, I can see where some of the government was trying to stimulate....
Once again, to return to what my geek friends tell me, that is where there needs to be government stimulus.
The R and D is expensive and risky(longshot to produce money), so it's got to be encouraged before breakthoughs are likely. However, if those breakthoughs come, it will lead to the next massive wave of worldwide demand and domestic production, good for all of us.
good attitude, no offense taken, and agree with the 'blame game' thing completely.I am not picking at you Slick.....just saying I don't totally agree.....this country doesn't have the time to play the economy blame game.... See y'all Sunday evening....
