I actually don't mind paying social security for those int the system, fully knowing that I'm not likely to get anything in return. I'm glad you appreciate my generosity, and those of your fellow taxpayers who are now supplementing your income.
Just like those who appreciated my money when I was paying.

Pay a little extra. I could use a new gun. :D

I have a single action Ruger .357 Maximum revolver, 10 in barrel you can have, I'll just send it in the mail. Great back-up gun in a shoulder harness if ya got big, ornery, man-eating varmints in your territory.

Want my address?

It's the cabin under the big pine next to the creek. UPS guy hates my pet bear.

Actually it's in my storage unit in Aurora - I'm too lazy to fetch it.

I'm going to agree with the first part of this wholeheartedly, and then point out that Barfly clearly doesn't understand that fact. In fact, the government IS all of us, or a reflection thereof. I have no problem with a balanced budget, I just want a government that does more, and asks more of those who can afford it.

government has NOT been a reflection of us for decades.
you have no problem with balanced budget? but would prefer what?
courts overturn voted law, bills make it all the way to the potus's desk for veto
bills make it all the way to the governors desk for veto
voted upon levies and requested laws make it to the mayors desk to sit ignored for complete election cycles.
government has been broken for years and years, but you think you're represented slick? thats scary

note that I wrote 'reflection', not 'representation'. Important distinction. And, yes, I think the absolute clusterfuck you have now reflects very well the nation as a whole, where the public wants lots of stuff but no one wishes to step up and pay for it. A nation where few understand how the system or the economy work, nor have enough sense to realize that the upper tier earners have been hosing them for ages.

Slick hates anyone who is doing better than he is. "Upper earners hosing them for ages". According to your flawed logic that could describe my employees and me. You don't get it dude, there will always be the rich. They're taxed at 50% if they make more than a mil a year. I'd be in the tower with a sniper rifle if I was being taxed at that rate.

and then theres a shred of hope in your posts

except, and I'm sure its just a little itty bitty Freudian thing..but this: "the absolute clusterfuck you have now reflects very well the nation as a whole" you see, I really do have years and years of psychology under my belt, and that little line right there is what I taught is a "tell". A tiny insight to what you really believe.
We slick, we have....when you say "you" that suggests on some level, you really feel its a clusterfuck, but why is it a clusterfuck? ah, your other posts suggest its clusterfuck because the majority dont agree with YOU. (and your liberal/socialist/marxist friends)
