ya fucking loon, that is the whole point. When the unstable out there get to consume a diet of hyper-inflated rhetoric and outrageous tactics(like I cited with Palin example, and could go on with tons more), this is what you get: 9 year old girls being shot at a public political town meeting. Freaking great.

Ok, we'll use your retarded thinking. The TEA party wouldn't exist if it weren't for your party taxing the fuck out of this country and getting into debt like it's never seen. So in essence it's Obama's fault.

w00t! Your convoluted line of thinking is awesome!

the word is 'dissent', and that fact does not going to alter the fact that we might have freedom, but lack the national will to produce an educated populace.
while I do not always like the tone of political debates. I like the principle of a political debate. this country has survived with the same tone in politics since its inception. if you dont believe me read up on Andrew Jackson. what happened in that election. it would put current politics to shame for the down right dirt and lies that were slung.
the tone has varied at different times, but what has clearly changed(thanks largely to modern technology) is the relentless nature of it. That, coupled with an increasingly stupid(and thus, gullible) population, sets up a situation where the fringe loons will feed and act upon the acidic hate. Actually, I have to give props here to Pudfark, who rightly predicted an upsurge in violent acts against public figures. I stated at the time that I feared he was right, and that no politics justifies it. This is just another milepost on the way to national oblivion, if we all don't wake up and try to overcome it.

I have no problem with the Tea Party, or it's existence. You must worship convoluted stupidity.

yup, I knew it. Problem is, you're far too stupid to understand either the meaning of the word convoluted, or anything approaching intelligent thought. Put on Fox News for a while to calm yourself down......

why thank you left wingers and the PC crowd for that part of our society. we can't grade in A-F anymore because it will hurt little Tommy's feelings. and Lord know's we cannot ruin Tommy's self worth by telling he failed at something. when you think and teach like that you foster a thinking of mediocracy. my High School music teacher used to teach us "winners never quit, and quitters never win" he always taught us to strive for the best and being the best took hard work and if you failed you got right back up and worked that much harder next time. public schools today teach you it's ok to be average. and the left wants you to believe the same way. if you dont want to work for something thats OK we'll just make a Government program that gives you what you want and we'll take it from those that have it to pay for it.

agreed the relentless nature has changed because we are in the information age. BUT people are much more informed and educated than they were 200 years ago. and I disagree with the gullible and stupid part. I would say Lazy would be a better word, people dont want to make the effort to know or understand
"In reality, there exists only fact and fiction.
Opinions result from a lack of the former and a reliance on the latter."

before we launch into a battle of semantics(stupid vs uneducated, lazy vs. a society that encourages it),
I want to say that I tend to agree with you, CUDA. However, by placing the blame on politics(liberals are the cause), you are blind to a society that has willingly allowed standards to slip. It's everyone who tolerates an education system without critical thinking, without real research papers for high school kids, without value for intellect, that is to blame. Liberal, or conservative, has nothing to do with it.
You cite, by the way, the 'tone' of early 19th century politics. Bear in mind, that sort of nonsense was limited to the mass media of the day in the narrow timeframe near elections. In between, the focus was nothing of the sort, as the public dealt with real-life issues. Now, everything gets distilled into political vitriol, every day. It matters not at all if the lunacy comes from Glenn Beck or Keith Olberman. It's all poison, and despite your claims to the contrary, the public might have access to more information, but UNDERSTANDS far less of the actual complexities than our predecessors did. Further, most actual political and social change came not from the common man, but from the landowners and business owners of the day, who were, by and large, VERY well educated for the times, and not given to buy into the inflamed rhetoric of some of the worst of the contemporary journalists.

What nobody seems to be interested in?.....The "Proximate Cause" of incidents like this one and others.
Cuda is the closest to it....though, still has not hit the nail on the head.

Once the "Proximate Cause" has been determined, one can work backwards through the events (all of them) to ascertain a reasonable/do able solution.
That solution will not be perfect in the sense of a "perfect outcome". It will be a huge step in the right direction.

Things to ponder? Stress, emotions, mental health, financial woes, education, hope and future outcome....with consideration towards, young folks, old folks, sick folks and average folks....divide that by politics....subtract that by "political indifference" and multiply it by the lack of economic growth and unemployment and you get?

Loony people, who are affected first, followed by other's who are susceptible to the stresses listed above and the accompanying frustrations that will drive them loony as well.....

The current administration of this country has exacerbated this problem.

They have done it with? For Example: Words like "Transparency".....wink, wink.....Just what does it mean? How has it been applied? How has it affected people? The current administration has totally frustrated the average American's value of "common sense" and it's application. More ambiguous verbiage will not fix the problem. Nor, will locking up mental cases and prohibiting fire arms. We must treat the problem, not the symptom.

All of this started long before Obama. However, much like our debt, it has multiplied and will continue to do so, under his "watch".

"Change", we better damn well start making one...When people cease to care about themselves or others? Shit like this happens, it's guaranteed.

How many "wake up" calls is it going to take?

I hope the victims yesterday, have not died or suffered in vain.....

Old Pudfark sez: " If we don't get back to the basics, we're basically fucked.... "
