then, since it is clearly shown that many of our fellow citizens aren't capable of doing so, you would agree that stricter regulations on proper storage, coupled with more stringent background checks that include EVERYONE who would be in the residence with the weapon, might be justified, right?
Old Pudfark sez: " Smokin' Dope/The Rockey Mountain High...the new common sense solution...for the irresponsible public at large. "
well, it WOULD slow folks down and feck with their aim.....not that I would have any personal experience......

Wrong. Your example.

Lets just require everybody to keep their car in a locked garage.
They have to retrofit their ignition system to use their drivers license
as a key. Further, they must all have installed a "breath analyzer" and
blow into it every 5 minutes. All vehicle must be equipped with a mandatory
approved GPS system. If yer car insurance expires or lapses your vehicle will
be confiscated. Vehicle Safety Inspection every two weeks on all cars two or more model years older. All establishments that sell or serve alcoholic beverages are not allowed to have parking spaces. Possession of a cell phone or cheeseburger is a misdemeanor punishable by a $1,000 fine and/or 30 days mandatory jail. No private
sales of vehicles, all must be brokered through the government. A $10 a gallon tax on gasoline/diesel for a mandatory safety awareness program.

Yup...that there will eliminate more needless deaths than any other "brain storm" idea you've presented thus far. Maybe? Next? The "walk don't run" law.

Damn...I forgot to mention "flag men and safety cones"....drat, maybe next time...

if large numbers of folks were regularly(as in three times this week, at least) trying to use cars to kill other people, your analogy might work.
But they don't, so it doesn't.

Wrong again.
It's about saving lives....more would be saved my way. ;)

Hell, you can extrapolate it in any direction you want....no booze, no cigars, no candy?
Everybody is upset about this incident....That does not except/accept you or me from applying common sense. What you have "over looked"? There is no solution to that type of problem. Regulation won't fix it. Vigilance might could? A little. Nobody can reasonably guarantee your safety, but you. You advocate removing yourself from the solution and passing on that responsibility to other unknown persons. As a former "other person", I can honestly tell you this? 99% of the time, because of circumstances beyond my scope or sphere of infuence/control...I was always late, getting there. When math was attempted to resolve that time lag? There was 1 of me for 40,000 of ewe. That's just how it was...and how it still is. The FBI did a study years ago..they said the proper ratio was 1 to 15000....I don't know how you feel about this...To me? It's like packing yer pipe with a turd and smoking in the elevator.

If you possess the ability to personally protect you and yours...and you give it up, for any reason or circumstance....you are a fool. If you think the Calvary is coming to rescue you and yours...You are mistaken. They will arrive in time to take the pictures and write the report. What they report or photo? Is solely up to you.

A vehicle is as deadly as gun. Matter of fact...more folks die in or from vehicles. Many of the vehicle owners/drivers own guns. When ya consider the environmental, health and energy concerns....which one, gun or car? Would more regulation, benefit?

don't get it, do you? Don't care to make the distinction between trying to kill, and accidents, do you? Sad, and pathetic.

Folks are run down everyday on purpose.
What is the end result difference between?
A Drunk in a car and Mental Case with a gun?
How's them DWI laws working out for everybody?
How's yer idea with guns gonna work out?

You're flailing...and just about to "founder".
That there "founder" has a double meaning as in swell up and bloat and of course the "Brach" meaning.... ;)

Something I'm wondering about this case is how they know what one of the teacher who hid her class and then sent the killer elswere said to him to dispose of him.

I've seen articles which claim she said they had gone in sports class?

How the fuck would they know since both her and the killer are dead?

since the kids survived, they can be interviewed, Nic. In that case, from what I've heard, she really didn't do or say much. She simply got shot, the kids fled, and since the classroom was nearest to the exit, went out the door and into town to the police station.

Well must not be the same that I read about. I read an article that said the teacher put all the kids in some closet of sorts, and when the killer came she said they were all in gym class (kids couldn't be nearby if they had been hidden in some closet)...

I'm not going to look it up because what I found about Aurora traumatized me enough already.

that was a different class, Nic. Both teacher and students survived there, with the woman cradling their faces one by one and telling them that they would be ok, and that they were loved. A lot of heroics on that day, and yes, I share your opinion about the trauma of dealing with this crap regularly.
