what reforms would you propose that would effect the economy short-term, rugg? I mean, the bottom line is that the banks have some bucks now. They can make more money investing than lending, so they put out cash for credit reluctantly. How does banking reform bring the Economy back??

Corollary thought for ya: When you say, "Bring the Economy Back", are you envisioning a return to the economy we had in, say 2005? 1995? 1965? I'm serious in asking, because, the way I see it, we're on a classic recovery in terms of Capital Markets, but for the workforce, the economy isn't 'coming back', it's transforming, and has been.

I'm not dodging it, I couldn't figure out what you were talking about. Complete sentences work so much better. Why isn't it on CSPAN?? Who knows? I figure some of the participants(I'm thinking the ones up for re-election in November) don't want to be seen or heard.
Actually, the whole process became as screwed up as a soup sandwich once the Repubs closed ranks and decided to vote against everything. Then, the margins get so close, the weasels in the room(and there are plenty of Dem weasels, too) could milk the process for their, um, sponsors. The people could have done much, much better. What we need is universal Medicare style coverage for all citizens. It's that simple.

actually, there has been a great improvement in 'transparency'. Hell, could you picture Bush publicly dissecting the mistakes made in that plane-bombing thing? Every federal agency is under tight orders to NOT classify documents, and put as much info online as they can. The man cannot do everything, and shouldn't have to carry water for reluctant Dem congressmen. You weren't here, Pud, in the run-up to the election.
I predicted early that Obama would win, pretty easily. And, I also predicted that much more difficulties would come from his fellow Dems as from the Republicans. I'm still pretty much of that mind.

Slick, there has been zero improvement in "transparency"...absolutely none....and talking about it don't count as getting it done....All Obama has to say/do is order it to be done.....and he won't do it....and hasn't done it....and won't talk about it....and here we are? "Yes we can" has meant only one thing to me....double speak, hidden agenda, cover up and shut up.

Until the curtains are pulled back and the doors wide open....it's not transparent....it's a cover up. Your reasons as to why this is not being done don't hold water with me or any other concerned individual....

You claim credit for being the great "predictor" here... Here is my prediction: It won't take four years for folks to figure this out...the trend towards truth and transparency will begin this fall.....and it won't be the Obama version....

no one so blind as he who will not see.

then, why no major outcry? No newspaper editorials? My explanation makes perfect sense. Obama has utterly no power to 'order' CSPAN to broadcast anything. That is a broadcast organ of Congress. Note, if you will, and read, the separation of powers parts of the Constitution.

If the Dems lose in Congress, it might turn out to be a gift to Obama. Like I say, I fear more some of the Dems than any damage from the Republicans.

true, Fatman, but changing regulations isn't going to affect that trend, short-term. That was my point to Ruggie.
