so according to you, when you become a member of a church you lose your first amendment rights????
Pudfark wrote:....If they lke the "separation" thingy...then, they must honor their end of the bargain...."
first off no where in the constituion does it say seperation of church and state. second off if you want to interperate the "Government shall make no laws establishing a religion" as the government not being allowed to have ANYTHING to do with religion. then you cannot ignore the "or Prohibit the free exercise there of" part. the Church has the legal right to say what it wants "1st amendment free speech" as anyone else

Cuda...first off, I said IMHO....

Second...I never said "church members", nor did I mean that...I do think, that when churches (pastor's) attempt to organize their members as a political force, they should forfeit their church status as it applys to taxes and so forth.....Here is a little food for thought...The muslims in the middle east mix religon and politics and look at what that does for them.....

IMO Churches need to stay out of politics and the Government needs to stay out of the Churches...and neither should go wandering off in the gray areas that define their purpose... Freedom of Speech should not be used as a "loop hole" tactic to justify this behavior....IMO

And yet politicians are always extolling their "good Christian family values" while running for office. And the media pushes it. And they get votes because of it.

Never knowingly hired any such guys(perhaps unknowingly, though, VA is Bible Belt), but always wondered about that......

There's a plumbing company called Christian Brothers here (or at least there used to be) and I've heard huge horror stories.

I read the El Paso Times regularly.
 ........so, no then?
I have, a few times, theres no way you can get the feel of a border town via an internet blog.
No more than some ju-ju bee right out of canada could grasp downtown new york city from watching TV.

ah, but when I quoted polls, you suggested it was meaningless?
I merely reported the current poll results. Geez, you're dense. Try reading a little more closely

Dawg, I clearly stated in another post that, yes, I have visited there as well as reading the local paper regularly(not the blogs, the damn newspaper). Further, I didn't say your graph/chart was irrelevant, it was statistically meaningless(no point of correllation). As for polls, they are what they are, which is but a very limited glimpse of the selected folks involved. Statistically, they vary widely in usefulness. Which one you are referring to, I don't know. You, and your pop-ins to make zee funnies are rendering YOU as irrelevant.
Still, while you're around.....when, exactly, did we see that HUGE drop in personal wealth last year that you predicted? I missed it.
