I actually considered a variation of that, with the words, 'where the police are trained for that sort of thing'.....

yes, those wimps at the Secret Service.
Although I'm quite sure many, if not MOST Republicans were opposed to the stupid idea, you are suggesting that Dems have the ownership on common sense?

I'm saying the Dem's were certainly the first to whine about it...
There appear to be a lot of wimps employed by the secret service...they used to be a sharp outfit, in my experience....now, not so much....anymore.
