Re: Remember in November
so, if at some time in the not-too-distant future, those things go away, who will you turn to?
Re: Remember in November
They don't go away. Like taxes. Take a look at your phone bill, the Federal Excise Tax that you're paying. It's for the Spanish American War.callmeslick wrote:so, if at some time in the not-too-distant future, those things go away, who will you turn to?
As an aside, seems that I'm not the only one who believes it's illegal.

Slick, you make it sound like you and the "Progressives" are out to overthrow the U.S. Government.."You don't deserve the Constitution you got from those great men"....So you and yours are gonna replace it with something I won't be able to embarass? Here is a radical, progressive, activist thought: Ya better learn to shoot a gun quick...or hope yer feet can keep up with your mouth..... That's some radical verbiage from you....especially, the comparison with our honorable founders....that was over the top.....callmeslick wrote:of course, they didn't call themselves that, but it is EXACTLY what they were. They acted in the interest of the population, were forward thinking in both rejecting the concept of monarchy and establishing a completely new system of governance. They were Radicals, Progressive thinkers and Activists, yet you use all three words out of ignorance to bad-mouth your fellow citizens. You don't deserve the Constitution you got from those great men, as you embarrass them every time you display your ignorance and hatred for your countrymen.Pudfark wrote:No Slick, they did not hold themselves out to be "radical progressives"...that is a name that you have ignorantly assigned them in an attempt to elevate your position on Teddy Roosevelt and the beginning of the "progressive movement".....which, by the way is approaching "peach seed speed" as November nears..........

Re: Remember in November
something else to ponder: Maybe, just maybe, if more folks had paid more attention when the Unions tried to point out the dangers of Free Trade Agreements, we'd have a more robust domestic industrial base? Just a thought.

How so?Pudfark wrote:[Slick, you make it sound like you and the "Progressives" are out to overthrow the U.S. Government..
oh, if that is your point, trust me on this: I have great faith that you could embarrass any intelligent form of government anyone could ever develop. And, no, I (and every Progressive I know) am just fine with the government we've been given."You don't deserve the Constitution you got from those great men"....So you and yours are gonna replace it with something I won't be able to embarass?
tough talk from a small man. And, a smaller mind. Here is a radical, progressive, activist thought: Ya better learn to shoot a gun quick...or hope yer feet can keep up with your mouth..... Re: Remember in November
I agree with you. That doesn't make the unions pro-American or give them even a +1 (in my book). They pointed out the dangers cuz it meant less dollars for them. It was selfish.callmeslick wrote:if more folks had paid more attention when the Unions tried to point out the dangers of Free Trade Agreements, we'd have a more robust domestic industrial base? Re: Remember in November
Ruggie, isn't that how an interest group(of which a Trade Union is one) is supposed to work? They focus on the interests they represent, in this case, their workers. My point is that Unions have become far less necessary than, say, in 1900. Still, they might be more necessary, if they conducted themselves responsibly, than some give them credit for today.
Re: Remember in November
Slick, how does all that relate to the SEIU, their agenda and tactics....? Since, you are espousing yourself as the "Union Expurt"..??

Re: Remember in November
Here is a little "progressive" funny.....and well worth Remembering in November.
Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown in the economy, Congress has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 50 years of age and above on early retirement, thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment.
This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).
Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to Congress to be considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced Termination).
Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).
A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as Congress deems appropriate.
Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).
Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by Congress.
Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. Congress has always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they give our citizens.
Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring this to the attention of your Congressman, who has been trained to give you all the SHIT you can handle.
Sincerely,
The Committee for Economic Value of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L.)
