Remember in November
Re: Remember in November
I love the whole "slave labor" comment. You may not respect what I do Slick, but here's the difference between you and I. I own and run my business. I do very well and I keep several employees (which is what you happen to be also, ask your boss) busy. I pay above average wages and all my people are americans and professionals. You work for wages and you're going to see some cost cutbacks soon. My closest friend is the Administrator for one of Banner's largest hospitals. They're cutting costs any where they can, he laid it all out for me last weekend when we went out to the club to see a fave band. His wife works in a lab, although she's going to school for her nursing degree. Cuz she sees the writing on the wall. Soon the labs will be outsourced and wages cut for people who work in them here.
We'll see who's laughing cuz even though everyone is going to need some kind of medical assistance, unless you're down in the trenches with the "slave labor" in those hospitals then you'll be taking the hit. One other thing, he's been told by superiors that shit is really gonna get bad when Obama-care comes. He says the problems going on with the hospitals are a direct result of what private insurance and what medicare are paying instead of what the real costs are. Obama care will absolutely crucify health care providers.
One more thing, if shit gets as bad as you say it will you'll see me at your front door. Armed. And you will give me all your shit. Seriously.

While you're there Rugg, don't engage him in conversation....it might end up as the longest robbery in history....and you'll probably have to kill him for pissing ya off...just tell him " I'm here to redistribute your wealth" and every thing should turn out just fine......ruggbutt wrote:One more thing, if shit gets as bad as you say it will you'll see me at your front door. I'm reminded of something a friend once told me: "Two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead".Pudfark wrote:While you're there Rugg, don't engage him in conversation....

Here is another point to Remember in November....
Cash-Poor Local Governments Ditching Public Hospitals
Faced with mounting debt and looming costs from the new federal health-care law, many local governments are leaving the hospital business, shedding public facilities that can be the caregiver of last resort.

Old motherfuckers like Slick with decades old education in their field will be replaced by youngsters with up to date college education. Not only that but they'll be hungry for the work and they'll produce more than those entrenched in that field. Sad thing is with people like Obama at the helm, we'll continue to see these labs outsourced to Mexico.

Re: Remember in November
Not one speciality lab has been outsourced to Mexico, that I'm aware of. Routine work could be done by trained chimps....hell, I could train you. As for young blood, my field of expertise needs it, badly. The AIDs thing scared folks out of the field for around 20 years, and most of us at a certain level of expertise are between 50-65 years old. We are, in this nation, soon going to face a big shortage. If anyone has kids with an interest in chemistry or biology, steering them into Lab Pathology, Lab Technology or Biomedical Engineering wouldn't be a bad piece of career advice.ruggbutt wrote:Old motherfuckers like Slick with decades old education in their field will be replaced by youngsters with up to date college education. Oh, and the comments about 'at my door' are amusing. Like, in that scenario, you'd get past the guards.
You all really don't get it and never will. I only hope it never gets to that point, but a look at history, far past and more modern, shows that it does, when a society goes downhill.

There's a lot you don't get, Rube, but this crystallizes a great deal of it. I KNOW that equality of prosperity doesn't happen, and won't. What we had was a CONTINUITY of prosperity, in other words a smooth progression from bottom to top, with a bit of mobility through the continuum. What you, and others seem to fail to see is that is slipping away. Indeed, it might be gone forever, thanks to about 30 years of utterly backward socioeconomic progress in this nation. Where the US is headed is towards an oligarchy, where a small number of folks have all the money, land and power, with the vast majority fighting for the crumbs.
Look around you. How many folks who, say, a decade ago thought themselves 'middle class' or even 'upper middle class' are now functionally bankrupt? How much more difficult is it for your kids to get into the finest schools in the country these days? Or, for that matter, even able to afford college? The whole scam has been unfolding for years, and a handful of folks have hastened it's progress by pitting left vs right, poor whites vs poor blacks vs poor hispanics.
You talk about the values this nation was founded on, Rube. What the hell are you babbling about. Religious freedom? Folks on the right seem willing to toss that one away, if it isn't the 'right' religion. Privacy? Post 9/11, are you kidding me? A government 'of, by and for' the People? That went away a long time ago. Sanctity of private property? Sure, that one is still pretty strong, unless you only own a little bit of property and some rich guy wants to build a strip-mall(See Bridgeport decision, SCOTUS). What exactly do you speak of, Pud, and how exactly do you get it back? The fact is, that in our modern society, we damn well better get a strong government that supports the working people of the nation, or politics won't mean a tinker's damn.

Re: Remember in November
how doesn't that fact argue for stronger government involvement? Hell, one of the major plusses of the half-ass plan that made it through Congress is that hospitals won't be stuck with the unpaid bills of the indigent.Pudfark wrote:Here is another point to Remember in November....

Everyone will have insurance to reimburse them.
Re: Remember in November
It was sarcasm. I'd never waste my time heading that way. There are closer places that would be safer, and less populated. However, it wouldn't be a prob getting past any "guards" you can think of. My team shot 4th in the world SOF '95. Closest cops or military was 7th place. Top 3 teams were full time pro shooters. Either way, I'm scary with a rifle. It's a shame that I'm too old (they won't take me) to go to "the desert" cuz I'd have no probs dropping some .50 cal on ragheads.callmeslick wrote: Oh, and the comments about 'at my door' are amusing.
