yes it is, and those who feel that taxes cannot or should not be raised would have us continue the slide backwards. What is called for is large-scale national sacrifice, from a wealthy nation, for the good of all.

I guess that's my point, too, Pud. We have had our priorities up our collective asses since around 1980, and over the time since, common sense has become less common.
