I've owned pit bulls since 1975. Why you would think i'd stay out of a pit bull thread makes no sense.

Some folks might argue that it is a well documented fact that...
the breed is dangerous and deadly....
I can just tell ya, from personal experience, multiple times....15 to 20...
over approximately 30 years....I have encountered mangled adults and
children...not to mention their pets mauled to death...on numerous occasions....
Pit Bulls are like Tigers...and should be treated as such...The problem is?
The Dumb Ass arrogant owners don't recognize this and they all make statements?
Like, "I never seen any problem with this breed." So be it. Ya can't argue with idiots.

Which is why?
My personal policy with the breed is as simple as this....
If the dog is penned....no problem.
If the dog is loose?
and poses no immediate threat?......lung shoot it with a .22
and if it poses a threat?....head shoot it with whatever is at hand......
and keep head shooting it....reload...repeat as necessary....

Now, after all this?
If the owner of the dog is penned?.....no problem.
If the owner is the problem?
See the paragraph above for possible solutions....

Buzz, I own two little dogs... Pomeranian's.
They reside behind a locked gate and fenced yard...chain link to be exact....
I live out in the country...and some of my "dirt worshiping neighbors" have a few
Pit Bulls dogs....left...and for some reason? I don't see any of them wandering
the area anymore....

Which, is why?
I advocate the .22 short CB cap round....with a lung shot...as it is?
Nearly silent, deadly lethal, non-confrontational and the recipient will run
from 50 to 100 yards away, before succumbing to the effects...meaning,
you won't have to bury it or explain it.

I don't need any help at all. I know the breed much better than you do.

I've had at least 25 pits. I used to weight pull them. At the nationals we must have had 100 pits there. Every dam one of them you could walk to it and it would lick you to death. It used to be the number one dog in the US.

It's the stupid owners who have wrecked the breed. Gang bangers, drug dealers, and dog fighters have breed the aggressive pits to the aggressive pits. When pit fighting was legal the owners would cull the aggressive pits, because they were too dangerous to handle in the pit. It's the only breed that I know that was bred to be friendly to people. Just the opposite of German Shepards, Rotts, and Dobys. They're breed to attack people.

You can't blame the breed for what has been done to it. It's stupid fucking people that have done it. Punish them. Not the dog.

The pit I have now couldn't be more friendly. If I leave him in the car a stranger can walk right up to him and pet him. You can take food from his bowl when he's eating. (try that with most dogs) He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. All he wants to do with another dog is play with it. All my pits were that way.

It makes me sick when I hear someone like you talk about a breed you nothing about. All you've seen is the result of some asshole owner.

btw I'm not surprised you misjudged pit bulls. You can't do a good job of judging me.

I judge the dog Buzz. Doesn't matter if it's a pit or not. I've seen other breeds that were allegedly "friendly" who have snapped and bitten people. And sometimes it's not the owners' fault. Some dogs just aren't any good. I haven't seen many of those though. If you socialize an animal they'll respond properly when around people.

Actually, Buzz....I've never misjudged them....
The same cannot be said about their owners....or the/their victims.

The bottom line?
If the owners of the PB's won't take their responsibilities seriously?
Others will.

I hope you enjoy your company with them for a long time and that nothing
untoward ever happens....I really do....it's just that I know different.

In 36 years of knowing pits, i've probably been in contact with 500 pits. Never a problem.

Maybe dogs don't like you.

Every time I go to a house to give a homeowner a bid (and they have a dog) the dogs always take to me. I'm a dog person, and they can sense that. Several have had dogs that are timid around new people but even those dogs I win over very easily. I know how to "introduce" myself to them and make them feel comfortable around me. Turns out Caesar (the Dog Whisperer) uses the same techiques. I knew I was on to something. And Buzz, you're probably right. Dog don't like some people. Res is most likely one of those. I'm not fond of cats but they tend to like me as well.
