What has been ignored in all of this snappy banter is that the "occupiers" for the most part are bunch of spoiled childlike retards who just don't understand why they are demonstrating. They are either too lazy or too stupid to get jobs and they're told what to do or say by the "organizers". Funny thing is in essence they're being controlled by people who are in it to make money, like the corporations that they're protesting against.

The mentality of these morons is proof that you can't raise kids and tell every one of them they are special. You can't have them play organized sports and not keep score, and give everyone a trophy because they participated. You can't not give them grades in school, even failing ones. Because in real life in the real world there are winners and losers. And if you've never experienced both then you will have no idea how to navigate thru life. This is why they're blaming all the ills of the world on capitalism. They want a hand out, they want what they haven't earned. They're adult children.

um, Ruggie.....I spent a day at Occupy Philly, and I'd guess the average age was around 50. Yes, quite a few under 25s,but lots of middle age folks and a shockingly large contingent of senior citizens. The reality just doesn't fit your painted image, at least in the one gathering I saw in person. Most had jobs or had retired(a lot take time off from work to attend for a few days at a time, others
stop by daily. You're right about the lack of focus, but that didn't surprise me. What they have accomplished is this: they have VERY effectively changed the national discourse onto the subject of economic unfairness and the rich/poor divide, along with the corrosive influence of money on politics. You know they've succeeded when key members in Congress from both parties start yammering about these issues. I think you see in OWS the beginnings of something, not the end product. As one observer said today on the news, the genie is out of the bottle.

Think about it. Seriously, think about it.

That idiot holding the "We are the 99%" sign ate three meals today, has access to a running toilet, and all the water he can drink.

Kind of puts things into perspective....... doesn't it.

QFT.

The Occupy "Protesters" around here are the same bunch of people for the most part already on some form of handout trying to expand their margins. Oh those and the usual suspects: Anti globalisation (but worldwide communism/socialism is cool), anti government (the current "capitalistic one of course, not the future one dealing out the goodies for free), anti military/police (but at the same time enjoying freedoms provided and upheld by these bodies). The list can be extended...
Plus:
Whenever I hear the word "activist" I have got to chuckle. Chuckle, because the activity is pointing out the obvious (something is not right). An activity would be to do something against it (other than shout "gimme, gimme, gimme") but I have yet to hear a viable solution for the crisis from those guys.

Oh and please let us remember that GOVERNMENT SPENDING TOO MUCH AND BORROWING MONEY TO SPEND MORE is the root cause of what is going on right now. Not the Bankers filling up their coffers. They are a side effect.
Also let me make this clear,: there is nothing wrong with government based welfare per se. If all else fails its good to know you may be able to get a little help from society until you get backmon your own feet again. HOWEVER, that means that this is strictly temporary and the exception. Not the rule. Also: You are supposed to try hard for yourself first. Some tend to forget or ignore this.

it does, to a great extent, Res. However, your point brings up a host of issues of a worldwide nature. One could easily say that Westerners should just be happy with their lot in life, but that sure seems to be pretty accepting of an obscene amount of inequity.

Actually yes, they should IMHO, because compared to the other 99% or even the worldwide mean, they are better off by far and by sheer luck of being born into certain areas.
BTW the acceptance of the far greater inequality (1st vs. 3rd World) appears to be widespread in the occupiers too.
The way I percieve it, most of the protesters operate along the "my ass first" lines and closing that gap to the 3rd world populations happens as a mere collateral effect....

Another thing I noticed -in the crowd of the occupiers over here at least- that the ones with real social issues such as being homeless or others that have fallen on hard times (long term unemployment, e.g) are strangely absent or doing the captalist thing: They try to obtain money by activity. I've even seen some of the above collecting soda/water bottles/cans from the scene and cashing them in for deposit and profit. Anecdotal evidence for sure, but kind of reinforced my view on the "Movement".

They are not a side effect, they are the root cause of all of it. A few very rich bankers (Rothschild, Rockefeller & al) use all their influence and power to force countries to borrow money. For instance the law of 73 to force France to borrow on the market at interest instead of borrowing for cheap from the Banque de France. The french president/traitor at the time was Georges Pompidou, a former director of the Rothschild bank. Surprisingly the debt of France has gone up exponentially ever since. Our latest traitor sarkozy was the one who was finance minister when 600 tons of gold from the bank of France were sold at the lowest gold price in the last 20 years. I guess that earned him a presidency...

Countries that don't play around with the IMF & such usually end up attacked for some dubious reasons vaguely related to freedom/terrorism/saving their population.

In Europe, Germany made so much out of exports that they never needed to get in debt, after then managed to pay back the reunification. But it's soon to be resolved, and Germany is going to have to pay for all the southern countries. German politicians are not traitors like our french politicians are, but it's okay you guys are going to be shoved through the EU and the Euro, and the FESF.

I never knew that all those occupy movements were about welfare. They are not about that, and you should question the motives of those who are actually asking for more welfare from within those movements.
