nic, nuf: the US is currently awash with quite a few 'assholes' such as you point out here. They have no clue about the history of their nation, it's key principles, or actual political thought. But, since they have been told to hate Liberals/Democrats/Progressives and equate them with Communists/Socialists(without a clue, as Nuf points out, of what that really entails), they spew and they try and flex political muscle. It will be interesting, come fall election time. You see, what's been happening this Spring is this: the nitwit extremists have been pushing their candidates into position as Republican candidates. Right now, several key Democrat politicians, who seemed likely to lose, are probably going to win due to the general public not sharing this rabid point of view. The 'assholes' will then awake, one early November Wednesday, and wonder why the Dems still control the show. Should be comical.

and FYI I tend to think you're wrong about the Nov election. they took a straw pol here in Oregon, IE:San Fransico North. and the political Republican newcomer is out pacing the Democrating candidate. and Oregon hasnt had a Republican Gov since 1987 when Ironically we elected a Democrat who turned out to be a pedophile. and its been all down hill from there.
