Sometimes, you have to face the fact that some folks are just flat-out stupid.
Callmesick, you are proof that quote is truth.

that's not common sense. It's paranoia. Let it take hold with enough Americans and the game is over. They win.
Unlike WWII or other analogies, this isn't something you overcome by massive force. It will NEVER work that way.
Going into the tenth year of playing "pattie-cake" with them is not working....so, you are saying that if we apply "massive force", we will get our ass kicked or hurt their feelings...? Appeasing those folks or any others involved, is tantamount to giving a rapist a snow cone and a condom. The old "win their hearts and minds" theory, with all it's proven success. Bull Shit to your opinion and historical Bull Shit to your opinion.
Slick it is apparent to all, that "your" opinion is more important, than the security of our country and it's citizens and soldiers.

The western world does not have what it takes to defeat the armed side of the war with Islam and the Muslims know it and the unarmed side of the war we are handing them the victory on a silver platter. The only Muslim country that I have been in that somewhat tolerates non-Muslims was Kuwait, and I have been to a bunch of them.

I'm freaking terrified. Like I said, I might well be out that way on business.

actually, Rube, I have exactly those priorities in mind when I said what I said. To wit: There is NO WAY the American public would ever embrace wholesale attacks on Muslims worldwide, or even in selected nations.
This is good, because, frankly, I don't want to live in an America that has so lost sight of it's historical code of conduct on the world stage. And, as Darkhorse points out, we cannot do anything but hurt ourselves by continued military operations on a limited scale. Thus, it is in the best interests of both troops and civilians that we tread very lightly in a military sense, and try like hell to get along with the billion or so non-belligerant Muslims, which can be found in southeast Asia, parts of Africa, Turkey, etc. In the long run, we could then focus on domestic security and, at the same time, save a lot of pissed-away cash to make our own economy and nation stronger.
