ok, let's start my serious reply with this quote. The opinion quoted above is, to be charitable, as stupid as they come. First off, if the power has all been siphoned off by 'traitors', what would make you think that some sort of mob action in the streets changes anything? Apparently, you are another one who I have to remind about the dynamics of a global economy and power within it. Localized action like strikes or riots won't hurt anyone except the local residents or workers. Second, by removing yourself from the vote, you essentially remove any say you might have in the process. Now, if you wish to have more say, you could actually INVOLVE yourself in politics, and maybe give yourself a bit more hope.

Now, my take on what is happening, with France as part of a much larger picture involving all of Europe, and the British Isles, is that there is a mass revolt against balancing the budget via solely cutting programs for working men and the poor. Several nations have seen recession return after such cutbacks, and even relatively solvent nations like the Netherlands have seen political blowback.
The new guy in charge in France would appear very moderate, and that seems a good thing. I have no reason to expect your economy to tank like Greece, this year, or anytime soon, because your economic fundamentals are MUCH stronger. I know, Nic, you are given to gloom and expectation of spiraling economic shitstorms, but let me remind you of one of your recent pieces of advice:
you said everyone should buy gold about 7 months back. I hope you didn't take your own advice.........

It doesn't work, and it's not designed to work. Divide to better reign... as always...

I don't care about the economic situation. I just want France to be run in the interest of the french people solely.

callmeslick wrote:well, Pud, sometimes(at least for me) it's best to make posts in order to LISTEN and LEARN from the opinions of others. Since Nic is
an honest-to-God, cheese-sucking, whining Frenchmen, and France just turned sharply left in the election, I wished to hear the viewpoint of an eligible voter there. Predictably, Nic turned it into a US rant, and geez, mustn't it be nice to blame your national issues on some other nation. Well, we in the US deflect blame on other folks, but usually fellow citizens, so I should go easy on Nic. No matter how utterly ridiculous and disconnected from reality some of his economic views and political ideas might sound to me.
I appreciate that he was willing to share them, and support them with details. Thanks, Nic.
It wasn't a US rant as much as a rant towards our corrupt politicians. If we had good people at the helm they wouldn't let themselves be bought by the big money.
