Try the LA riots, '91 if I recall. The most disgusting thing about that episode of local anarchy, was how many people who didn't live there urgently felt the need to go into un-policed areas and steal to "get some of theirs", just because the opportunity existed. The amount of mayhem there far exceeded the police's ability to assist in maintaining order - you were on your own, in some cases business owners protected their property and lives with weapons, including what you would call 'assault rifles ' which were the perfect self defense tool for that scenario. Say he likes football but what doesn't he like about it... it's violent, aggressive, physical, competitive, teaches life lessons like any great sport, and is pretty damn safe overall.

I'll tell you why nobody has used shotguns. Because assault guns are available. Take them away and see what they use.
Another reason could be these kids grow up on video games that use assault guns. That might be a stretch, but I don't rule it out.
Your experts are full of it. Assault guns are the number one predator gun used now. I use a muzzleloader to kill coyotes, but i'm not trying to sell the pelts.

Killers aren't hunting ducks. They're hunting people. The stock and barrel will be shortened. It will maneuver as well as the AR, and with the choke cut off. It will spread the buckshot even better.

Ya ever hear of a M1 Carbine? Caliber .30 with 15 or 30 round magazines...very popular issue semi-auto rifle. A WWII favorite for it's light weight and high magazine
capacity. Sold by the tens of thousands after the war. They also had the M2 version which was full auto.
Ya ever hear of a M14 or the same M1A Springfield...both in caliber .30 with 20 round magazines and semi-auto...was used in Vietnam by the Marines and some Army units early in the war.
