(Aug. 13) -- President Barack Obama gave a thumbs up today to a proposed Islamic community center and mosque that is slated to be built two blocks from the site of the 9/11 attacks in lower Manhattan.
"Let me be clear," Obama said at a White House dinner celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, "as a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country.

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," Obama said, according to CNN.

first, it isn't a mosque, but an educational center. Second, it isn't at Ground Zero, but actually a 7 block walk from the old WTC site. So, are we supposed to ban a religion from such construction anywhere in lower Manhatten? If so, what does that say about what America has become? Some folks clearly don't get the concept of leading by example, and, in this case, rewarding those that have tried to educate Muslims that the whole jihadi thing is wrong. Once again, a non-issue, hyped to hysteria to gull the stupid. With Bloomberg behind it, the Educational Center will likely get built.

What business is it of yours? or mine? Obama's? was the point...that, you missed/failed.

when ignorant people try and harass a legitimate religious entity from using a property they own legally for the purposes they choose, it is ALL our business, or ought to be to decry such harassment as sick shit. I, for one, am proud to have a President willing to throw down the gauntlet and proclaim a wrong as a wrong. New Yorkers are lucky to have a mayor willing to do likewise.
