I'm giving out via the MSNBC link, because you don't need a subscription to read it(just ignore all the damned ads).......this sums up why I've expressed concern over some key issues, and the divisive tone from the extreme right for the last 15 or 20 years. Note the parts of the article which discuss past US labor history,
current attitudes toward education and science/technology.

I read all of it........ :o

That is a disturbing article....and it deliberately ignored several pertinent issues...........though the below is somewhat true...

"The U.S. needs to interrupt its angry divisiveness and name-calling long enough to recognize the portent of what is going on. Unfortunately, in this particularly acrimonious mid-term election year, that is not going to happen."

I disagree with the last six words...it is going to happen. From that point forward...things need to happen.....China's appetite and forth coming economic consumption, based on their population size, is a mathematical threat to the entire world...not just the U.S. There will be a world war in the next 60 years and billions of people are gonna have to die.....the math says so....human behavior says so........If you are capable of the simple math to balance your check book...you are capable of understanding the math involved with my statement.........it don't matter if you're a tree hugger....and being one might, very slightly slow the equation...the ugly answer is still the same.

Old Pudfark sez: " that's an ugly thread topic...incomplete a bit....apply the math...and it's uglier.... "
