Nostalgia and a quick hello.

Hi folks.
A friend sent me a PM so I logged back in to read it, and of course, then checked out the threads.
So first of all, Hi to all of the people who are/were regulars here and remember me
( too many to name but yer all cool )
Secondly, I feel nostaligic, for how it used to be here. Trolls, rages, but a lot of good stuff too. Just reading up on the last 1000 threads or so, it seems like the tone has slipped to the one side and has no real function anymore.
I used to love and hate this forum in almost equal degrees, some people ( on all sides of the political and social and geographical spectrum ) would make great posts. Or just dumb posts, but most times they were at least balanced and worthwile. It could be almost and education reading them. And no long living malice would result.
But, chaps, ( and kudos to the domain owners and admins, no slight to them ) this place has become a one trick pony show. It's like the fall of the Western Roman empire circa 470 AD onwards. Or worse, a gangbang of people all reading off the same sheet, attacking the few remaining originals.
A few years ago, this place ( which has one of the best open policies for a web forum ) had a real vibe going on, people would argue about politics, but come together about human things, or game things, or guns, or music etc.
I dropped out as I had some personal stuff to do, and didn't need more conflict in my real or online life. And I'm glad I did as otherwise, a place I used to love for it's freedom and diversity, has become a forum for backslapppers and self congratulating posts in the main.
ACWOS, is not, for me, what it once was and what made it pretty goddam great.
So, have fun, and keep on keeping on. The people who know me, know how to get in touch, and we might all meet again someplace if SoWBoB ever gets released
