National Public Radio fired Fox News contributor Juan Williams on Wednesday after a Monday night appearance in which Williams said that it makes him nervous to fly on airplanes with devout Muslims.
Typical of any "Media" outlet that recieves Funding from George Soros. Silence the Truth

Yup, yer right.... Soros can't find a way to get at Fox News....so he throws a good black man under the bus... a "progressive" display of a tantrum in progress.

Old Pudfark sez: " I like Juan Williams, don't often agree with him, he is a credible voice and deserving of respect, not the "progressive" respect that he got..... "

There are plenty of white muslims all over the world who can blow themselves up in a town near you. If you think they need to wear a headscarf to blow apart then you're pretty stupid... oh wait

BTW most terrorist attacks in italy in the 70ies were perpetrated by the mafia on demande of politicians and the secret service, and then blamed on the left.

A fear climate is always very helpful for those who rule...

FE they can claim that some dude in a plane was stopped while trying to detonate his shoe (????), it will scare the shit out of you allright and you don't even need to kill anyone.

Not trying to "hijack" your thread, Cuda. Thought I might indulge on your hospitality with this little "Soros Offer"....

Old Pudfark sez: " Does Soros own a pair? Or does he rent? "

Who cares what colour he is?

1. not only whites are racist
2. how does he recognise a muslim when they can be of any color/dress? I'm sure he can't tell a hinduist indian from a paki muslim.

I waited a few days, pondering this one before responding......my answer is complex, to some extent:

First, I really am a fan of Juan Williams. Read his stuff in the Washington Post, read a couple books. The man is a first rate writer as well as broadcast journalist. He's smart, with a sense of humor and common sense. I have a massive respect both for his intellect and the fact that he perservered through the process of coming out of Bedford-Stuyvesent to go to Haverford as one of the few men of color on that campus. He has always been a must-listen when he contributes on NPR, and will be missed. He also is perhaps the only person on the Fox roster who I make a point of catching. If he is named to a post-debate, post-speech, or election night panel, I tune in to simply hear him. I laugh a Charles Kreuthammer or that boob Kristol, but Williams truly is 'fair and balanced'.

Secondly, I always found it sort of weird, seeing him affiliated with both Fox and NPR, as he was asked to behave quite differently in both venues, and it seemed an impossible balancing act. As for his comments on O'Reilly, I found them sort of disappointing, in that I thought he was too smart for such blanket response. But, those WERE his responses, and are as valid as anyone else's. Moreover, talking about his personal feelings should not be out of bounds, at least in the context of his overall speil to O'Reilly. NPR clearly made a bad call to fire him, although who knows what the behind-the-scenes stuff leading up to this has been. I am a bit suspicious about the sudden $2 mil/year Fox offer, coupled with the massive publicity, almost as if the whole episode was a bit choreographed. Still, it's NPR's loss and Fox's gain, to my mind.

Finally, this thing will somehow get used to bash NPR, and call for slashing the feeble little funding the networks get. That would be idiotic, as NPR serves a very real and valuable service. To anyone who listens, you should know.....NPR gives more sides and more time to EVERY major issue of importance, in it's news division. Compared to ANY other source, NPR provides vastly superior information. And then, there's Car Talk.
