It would be hilarious if forward thinking progressives actually knew where the term "redneck" came from and what it originally signified.

Even more hilarious would be if you´d ask the same question to those people throwing around words like communist and socialist without any clue at all what they mean. You didn´t do it there but do it here. Hmmmm....

Agreed. In fact, it's not a term that's positive. I've tried to explain to these idiots here that using the term redneck is as bad as using the term nigger. Period, end of story. Being that I'm white and a bit of a redneck I can use the word. Just like the black can use the word nigger amongst themselves.

Can't wait to Nuf and the rest of the idiots start using terms like spic, wop, guinea, honyok, chink, etc.

Some blacks claim that the word nigger isn't offensive either. The point is that both terms have a similar negative connotation to them. I happen to not care if someone uses the term redneck...............as long as they are one themselves. And just because you're caucasian doesn't mean you can use the term.

As I remember the term "Redkneck" came from Union coal miners in the central Appalachian region circa 1920.
"Nigger" or the "N word" saw it's demonisation here in America in the latter
half of the 20th Century. Note in the movie "Dam Busters (1955)" one of the
actors has a dog named "Nigger".
