Thanks to all on here that served, for the US and worldwide.
As I do every Nov 11, I called the oldest vet of my acquaintance, my dad, to start my day(not his, the man gets up ungodly early at age 91).
Thanks again.

I called my grandpa, he'd have been happier if I'd have called him yesterday on his beloved Corps birthday. However, I did say a few words to Chesty Puller. Gramps was ok with that.

I missed Nam by a few years, Thank God. I was Quartermaster QM2. for 2+ years I was the only qualified helmsman onboard ship, always behind the wheel in an out of port and during UNREP's and at 19years old.
I made 1 WestPac saw Pearl, Pohang Korea, Buckner Bay Okinawa, Hong Kong, Subic Bay Phillipines, Singapore, Phataya Beach Thailand, Columbo Sri Lanka, the always popular Diego Garcia, and Perth Australia. 7 months away from home.
It's ashame that America and Belleau Wood suffered the same fate. its funny how you can become attached to a hunk of steel.
Belleau Woods final moments
