....for the whole deficit/fiscal plan, is trying to link longer-term. This guy might be right, overall. I do want to note, before the predictable suspects jump on me, that I DO NOT agree with his interpretation of the Pew Center data. I do wonder if his point about short term versus long term deficits is valid. Also, his view of education might be correct as well.

IF you dont agree with his interpretation of the Pew Center data. How could his point about short term versus long term deficits possibly be valid then?

didn't bother to read the article, apparently, now did you? The Pew Center data revolved around hiring or job losses relative to native born and foreign born workers. It was sort of off his basic track in the article. Hebert can do that at times, ie wander off track. Still his other points are valid. As you don't want to put in the work, I'll summarize by saying he suggests that fixing the economy trumps immediate drastic budget reforms,
in the interest of a stable workforce taxpayer base down the road.
I know, I've been wondering where this deficit stuff leads on here(aCWOS) for years. Still, it's just gotten worse, and neither party, nor most independants address it in a serious fashion. I think matters will come to a head, and in part, we do have the Tea Party types to thank for that. The nation has to come to an overall consensus of what they expect Government to do for them at all levels, Federal, State, Local. Then, when that is settled, they have to figure out how to pay for it all. Sounds real simple, and at the same time, strikes me as beyond what the US public and their elected officials are up to doing. Time will tell, but I guarantee one thing: India, China, and a host of other countries aren't going to just wait around for us to figure it all out.

You ain't gonna like this....Time after time, I have said the same thing.....
Our economy and finances are like an old two story "ramshackle" building"....
Moving the furniture around on the second floor....ain't gonna fix the building....
It might take some of the "lean" out of it......but the foundation is still for shit....
Your ideas seem to me that you advocate..... redecorate/renovate, restore and rebuild....
My common sense tells me....rebuild, restore and then renovate/redecorate....

Why would I?!?
You questioned the validity of those results based on his interpretation of some data!
.......so, I need to read it? To what ends? Argue a counter point? Persuade you he is right? Agree with you he is wrong?
oy vay slick!

sheesh, didn't read my explanation above, either, huh, big guy? The Pew Center data and conclusion isn't central to the op-ed piece at all.

find proveable illustrations, by the dozens, as I (or anyone with a functional brain) can, about Hebert, and I give him zero credibility, too.
