The terrorist have won this fight.

Look at all the money wasted, time lost, and hard feelings against the administration.

I'd say that they got a lot of bang for the buck out a pair of shitty underwear that didn't explode.

The Israeli's have got it right and we've got it all wrong yet again.

I agree with Wullie, and frankly, a great deal of our citizenry 'lost' the war on terror from the get-go.
Look at the hysteria we went through over every little thing back in late 2001/2002, and right up to recent incidents. I remember shaking my head when Newt Gingrich called the underwear bomb thing a 'near catastrophe'......a whole city going up is catastrophic, someone exploding their groin on a plane could end tragically, but hardly catastrophic.

Newt was talking about fail safe systems that let that underwear bomber get as far as he did, again, quick acting folks made short work of the dirtbag, same with the recent NYC attempted bombing.
This war on terror wasn't lost from the gitgo, but increasingly our leaders are insisting we become detached from the national effort to thwart terrorism. Pity. in wwII it was a national effort from the ground up- korea, less so, VN, even less so to the point the only involvement was the counterculture, and now...now? nothing.

sorry, but no, that wasn't what Gingrich called a near-catastrophe. It was the incident itself.

This war on terror wasn't lost from the gitgo, but increasingly our leaders are insisting we become detached from the national effort to thwart terrorism.
what 'national effort'? From the start, the 'effort' consisted of public hysteria, fueled by governmental 'threat' assessments(red, orange, yellow?) and media overreaction. We entered a sort of nation paralysis for a while, now we just react to every new threat, after it becomes readily apparent. The only sacrifice, nationally, was by the military rank and file that had to go into Afghanistan and Iraq without a clear plan. The rest of us?
Did we refuse to buy Arabian-produced petroleum? Did we sacrifice taxes to pay for the 'war'? Fuck no, it's just life as usual, with a dose of unreasonable panic thrown in. Some 'effort'......
Pity. in wwII it was a national effort from the ground up- korea, less so, VN, even less so to the point the only involvement was the counterculture, and now...now? nothing.
maybe these reflect the extent to which the actual threat to the nation that each situation posed?

here's some folks who see the reality......sad to say, it's a quote from 'Inspire' magazine, the media output
from Al Quaeda in the Arabian Peninsula:

"To bring down America we do not need to strike big," the editors write. With the "security phobia that is sweeping America, it is more feasible to stage smaller attacks that involve less players and less time to launch" thereby circumventing U.S. security, they conclude.

"To bring down America we do not need to strike big,"
What percentage of "peaceful" muslims would this contingent constitute?

Better yet, what percentage of muslims?

The silence of the "peaceful" emboldens those that wish to see the US fall.

It is a war.

this contingent? They aren't peaceful and really aren't Muslims in any religious sense.
Better yet, what percentage of muslims?
now you're talking......AQAP makes up about .01% of the Muslim population.

and, we've lost, given your attitude.
