This is why we need to shut China down one way or another. We levy taxes on imports from China until they become more responsible with pollution.

China is devaluing their currency on purpose which causes problems with our economy and currency. So yeah, other than nuking the fuck outta them I say we use "non libertarian" solutions.

that is a fine example(and I'm not in any way saying this to bust on you) of why there has to be a subtlety to political thinking. NOTHING works with a black and white, all or nothing approach.

Interesting topic....It is a black and white issue...or, what's the quick political solution? How long will it take to "get the lead out" ? How long should we wait?
I have said/alluded to this several times before...."Pressures" that folks have never considered in there entirety are at work in our world...They are economic, political, environmental and size of population is the accelerant. To put it simply, more people equals more consumption, more waste, more demand and less space, apply a little math to the problems and the answer is simple. One would have to be very naive, not to understand that a solution will be applied by nature (uncontrolled) or by man (controlled). Either way, it will occur as a certainty.....
Old Pudfark sez: " All I know is this, If'n my neighbor starts shitting in a bucket and throwing it over the fence, on my side? Politics ain't in the equation for the solution..... "

I'm surprised that no one seems to share my view that to ward off the Chinese, the only hope is to rebuild our infrastructure and somehow stimulate homegrown industry, research and development. Throw in the need for a well-educated pool of folks to join such a workplace, and the path sure isn't a cakewalk. But, I haven't heard one other rational path that wouldn't just allow the US to sink, at varying rates of speed.

That's exactly what needs to be done. Tariff's for foreign made items would help, as well as tax cuts (shudder, Dems) for businesses. Intel came to Arizona because the state gave them all kinds of tax breaks. Now they're a leading source of tax revenue for the state. Do the same for other business as well.

yup, sometimes you have to risk money to rebuild. But, it's always worked.
