Closest I've been to that type in over 40 years was when I pulled a "brotherhood" patch off an asshole's jacket one night. I've still got the patch, he didn't have enough balls to take it back.

I did see the "brotherhood" first hand when I was stationed in FL in the early 70's. I worked with a couple "sand crabs" (civilian contractors) at NARF ( Naval Air Rework Facility). Other than the fact that they believed the way they did, they were pretty good ol boys. They tried to recruit me and I didn't want anything to do with that lifestyle.

Had they waited until the race riot that took place on the ship I was on, it might have been different. Back then what we heard was "KILL WHITEY!" Three of us spent 4 hours in a small compartment with the water tight door dogged shut and holding the latches with a cheater pipe to keep us in and them out.

FYI, my neighbor happens to be black. He's cool. Worked his ass off and raised two good kids. Still works his ass off. The neighbor directly across the street from me happens to be black as well. He's a cool guy too. I T tech of some renown. We drink beer and shoot the shit with each other all the time. Good people.
