i HIGHLY recommend it, as the risk of your enjoyment of the movie being "spoiled"

the movie is fine, on it's own...but the book kinda....relegates...the movie to a lesser status, to put it mildly

biggest differences; bugs are intelligent, with a society, culture, starships, beam weapons, etc....they also have another alien life form ally, known as "skinnies" that the STs also fight, and starship troopers are all dropped individually in "eggs" from low orbit ships and planetfall to do assaults, in hemetrically sealed, fully powered battle armor reflex suits eq'd with several kinds of ordinance launchers, bombs, rockets, giuded missles, slug throwing weapons, flamethrowers...advanced explosives, micro nuke weapons....even a "psy ops" grenade, a bomb meant for groups of tgts, it announces (in the alien tongue) "hello. i am a 10-second bomb...9...8..7...
the can leap huge distances as well, sensor suite, etc

have you ever seen "Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles"? you might like it a lot
