"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun . . . it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."

Thomas Jefferson, 1785

Given the choice, I'd rather go walking with Jefferson, than hunting with Dick Cheney.......

fun quote, Buzz.......and yes, times have changed. I'd like to know what old TJ was thinking, to feel the need to stroll about Monticello with a gun, perhaps plugging the odd turkey or whatever. In that part of the world, I'd choose a fishing rod.

As long as you kept your socialist views to yourself, you'd probably be safe from either of them.

Well, if ya went hunting with Cheney? You'd probably have a different "view" of things.... ;)

Under the Bill of Rights?
You are not guaranteed the right "to keep and bear" fly rods.... :P

Old Pudfark sez: " The fly rod made all men equal.......knot/not/naught.... " 8-)

Is known as wankers...an they don't
plow for nobody else....

Old Pudfark sez: " Trade yer fly rod in on a pump shotgun..then everybody will know? When ya pull the trigger... "

That's an urban legend. Jefferson never said that.
When the line first surfaced it went, "Those who hammer their swords into plowshares, will soon be plowing for those with swords."
But Jefferson didn't say that either.
