86 year old 5" goup at 1000 yards

Saw that a while back. That was a great story about a great man.
He's still got what it takes.
Brought a tear to my eye as well.
I know a WWII vet that was Army infantry. He fought his way through Europe with Patton's Third Army as a rifleman. He won't talk about it as most of them won't. I've known him forty years or more and I still don't know what his first name is. His first initial is "F". I've always known him as Fuzz. So has everyone else in his life. Fuzz has an old Garand he bought sometime in the 50's and it stays in his truck year round. We were out checking his pastures one afternoon, and Fuzz saw a coyote way the HELL off across the pasture. He stopped the truck, got his Garand and stepped out in front of the truck. I was thinking to myself, there is no damn way he's make that shot without a rest. He stood there drawing a bead on that punk with absolutely classic "offhand" style. I was thinking it was about a 500 yard shot. Fuzz torched off one round and that coyote went down like lighting had struck him. Fuzz just grinned and put his rifle back in the rack and said let's see how far it was. We stepped it off and I was very surprised.
The shot was closer to 600 yards than 500.
That was about 20 years ago and Fuzz is 93 now. Damn fine shooting for a 70 some odd year old.
They taught 'em well in WWII.
