On my disagreement with slick

Post by nicolas10 »

Lately we disagreed about whether the US (and Yurpian) educational systems had been ruined by sheer incompetence (your point), or because it was desired to be that way (my point).

Here's an article I read lately that kind of illustrates my point (if you manage to get to the conclusion... long read).

Nick, That article is a complete load of shit. No other way to put it. When I start to read about the CFR or the Trilateral Commission, my eyes glaze over, having heard this conspiracy crap for years.

Pud, nothing shocking about your statistics, but what role does parental involvement(or lack thereof) play, as opposed to some big bad conspiracy for masses to fail?

(or lack thereof)
Here's a little something about that:

http://www.savethemales.ca/001904.html

The system is more than happy to drag kids as early as possible from the parents and into the "educational" system.

Socialism... hippyism... socialism all want to strip the woman from her biological role to a "productive" role which would somehow be more self-gratifying, only leading to what you blame on the parents as lack of parenting. Something very fishy here mate.

That's pretty much how I originally read it.

Nic, what is interesting is that over on YOUR side of the pond, socialistic/nannyism type behavior with one's children is FAR more common. Over here, a smaller percentage of children ever see a 'school' setting before age 5. Yet, your test scores, and all educational parameters are far higher than ours. Further, your youth seem, to my limited number of evaluations, to be FAR more open and demonstrative, whereas ours are more
given to rigidity and conformity.
I still say it is a mix of parental laziness and a consumer-driven culture which elevates the basest levels of human behavior and places them on a pedestal. When every girl wishes to be Snooki, and every guy wants to be in some star's 'entourage', you have a pretty poor situation in which to have expectations of good outcomes.
