Hmmm for starters:
1. You burn there books and they get pissed off.
2. You pee on somebody's dead body and they get mad.
3. You bury their dead exalted leader, Osama Bin Laden, respectfully and according to their customs...and then, they?
Body of journalist Marie Colvin being held by Syria
The family of war correspondent Marie Colvin, who was killed while covering the violence in Syria, is desperately trying to find out how to get her body back from the country.
Reports have surfaced that the Syrians are refusing to release the bodies of Colvin and French photojournalist Remi Ochlik, who died after a rocket attack Wednesday on a house in the rebel city of Homs that which was being used as a makeshift media center by activists.
“We haven’t heard anything. We are waiting on word from the government,” Colvin’s brother, Mike, told FoxNews.com.

A couple monts/weeks back a french journalist was admitted in Syria, and he went to places where the repression supposedly took place. He never saw nothing. Later on he asked the Syrian gvt to be embedded in a Syrian army unit, since they were supposingly committing atrocities & what not. His request was granted by the Syrian government.
Soon after that he was killed by a rocket launcher fired by the peaceful protesters. Not a fuss about it in mainstream french press.
I'm sad for that journalist and her family, but the fact is that they're lying about Syria, and the "peaceful protesters" are actually wahabbits financed by quatar & saudi arabia and the CIA to stir ship up, just like happened in Libya.
If they manage to everthrow the Libya government, it will be replaced by islamists.
BTW I made a thread a while back describing how WWIII would start, and told you (well Wesley Clark) told us that Syria was next. A couple months later it turns out it's true.

man, Nic, you are just chock-full of goofy-assed theories. Now, I'm not disputing the bit about Sunni extreminsts being involved with the uprising, just the part about the CIA. What interest would it serve the US? They seem to be notably avoiding all talk of arming those folks, well, except for Ruggies Senator. Also, the history of the Assad regime isn't exactly glorious, it is just that both sides of many of these conflicts are unlikely to be pro-western.......

Slick why the fuck would "we" give a shit about Syria if it didn't serve some purpose? Come on.
The US are next to bankrupt. All they have left is a huge army and nothing to do with it.

first, we aren't 'next to bankrupt', for a lot of reasons. Second, we are shrinking the military, perhaps by quite a bit, over the next ten years. Look for the US to get out of the 'world policieman' role, and focus more narrowly on Oil Supply and Asia, neither of which means that Syria is all that important.
I sort of gather that Syria is a much bigger deal in Europe than it is in the US. Not that many expatriots here, compared to over there.

French people don't give a rat's ass about Syria. At least they didn't until it got all over the fucking news, ads, tv programs a few months ago. Same for the brits probably.

It seems that some of the responses indicate otherwise, Nic.

another point, Nic, this one specific to the US, so I realize what you are seeing may differ. I was spending time with the little grandson this morning, listening to jazz and playing with toy trucks. In the background, I had the morning news programs on, sans sound. Judging by what flashed on the screen, Syria makes up less than 5% of the overall news reportage in the major US outlets
(I flipped through CNN, Fox, NBC). Obviously, over 80% of our news is domestic.....the economy and Presidential campaign, but the foreign coverage dealt more with Iran, Afghanistan and European money woes than it did with Syria. As I tried to say earlier, I think that Syria is heart-wrenching to many, but hardly an overriding concern of the either the US public or the military/government folks.

Well cameron & sarkozy will do the dirty work. Propaganda is aimed at the UK and France mostly.
Besides 5% of all news coverage is quite a bit already.
