Interesting - but I'm more of a Speyside drinker. To me, Islay/Skye whiskies are a bit of a novelty/curiosity drink. I was once given a bottle of Talisker by a friend who visited the distillery - nice but definitely not a 'session' whisky!

Here's a very expensive tipple (£192 per teaspoon).

Including the buyer's premium, that's about $49,695 in Australia or $46,221 in U.S.
for one bottle
Personally, I think prices like that are ridiculous and the buyer needs his/her/their head(s) testing.

Pfffffft BELL'S!!! (for the cheap shit)
Personally I like the highland malts, I prefer the Balvenie ( when I can afford it).
Tomatin is mostly what I buy. The rest of the malts taste too much like iodine for me.
Johnny Walker ain't bad either.

For the cheap shit, I buy Famous Grouse - but I'm very flexible on that - if it ain't on offer and others are (like supermarket own label single malts) - then sometimes it don't make sense to buy the Grouse. Wouldn't buy Bells though

Femmos Groose!! Drank quite a bit of that in the past.
A buddy of mine that doesn't drink, used to buy me two liters of Bell's at the Duty Free shops at Heathrow on his way back to the states. He was over there twice a month on business. It was pretty cheap drinkin' back then.
He's retired now and I've gone back to drinkin mostly tequila nowadays.
Cazadores, Cien Anos ( Puro de Agave ) and El Jimador are smooooooooooth.

Johnny Walker is the benchmark when it comes to blends.

I'll keep those in mond next time I'm in the Sates, don't get much variety in Telquila in Yurp, some but it is sure expensive.
Mostly a Scotch drinker when I drink the hard stuff, otherwise beer or red wine.
