Happy Thanksgiving, Americans!

Post by callmeslick »

I hope you furriners on here have a fine day, too. Still, I'd like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all those of you here in the US.
Personally, I'm spending today prep-cooking, so I have to do far less tomorrow(freeing valuable football-watching time). On tap for today:
1. Prepare two batches of stuffing; a basic bread/cornbread mix with some celery and mushrooms to go into the bird, and a second one with oysters, mushrooms, onions and pecans that bakes separately.
2. Prepare a green bean cassarole(basic, easy but everyone seems to demand it)
3. Steam, season and chill cocktail shrimp(without eating them all before tomorrow...the hardest part of the process).
4. Prepare corn pudding and cook, so that all I have to do tomorrow is reaheat it briefly.

The wife is making spoonbread(first attempt for a Northerner, fingers crossed) and a lemony dessert my mother likes, and the two of us are eating up leftovers today to make room for the turkey day leftovers tomorrow.

Have a great day, one and all!

all Politics aside

I hope that each and everyone has the best day, best food, and best fellowship with their families.

Have a nice day slicker, and the rest of you guys too.

As for me. No family left. I outlived everybody. I'll be headed for the mountains to fish one of my creeks. Guaranteed solitude.

edit, Buzz. while I am passionate about my Politics and my Faith. I am by no means a perfect man, and while I will take my opportunities to poke those in the eye that I disagree with. I respect everyone on this board with only 1 exception. please regardless of my tone and tact with you do not take that as a sign of disrespect for you..

something to be thankful for there, too. Enjoy your day, Buzz. Consider us family, as CUDA says, but I'm not going to try to mail leftovers. :)

now, now.....what sort of horse's ass would inject politics into a Thanksgiving thread? ;)
I hope that each and everyone has the best day, best food, and best fellowship with their families.
that's what it's all about. First one in a long time for me without daughter at the table(she'll be doing the work preparing her own meal for hubby and two kids out in Indianapolis), but the fact that I know she is getting her life together and caring well for my grandchildren is one of the many things I'll be giving thanks for. Enjoy the day, CUDA! :D

never a quiet moment around the CUDA household

Not a problem Cuda. I'm not thinned skinned, but to be honest. I have different standards for a fellow Christian.

Well in that case Buzz...keep yer leader wet and yer pole dry.. ;)
Yesterday was a sad day for my Dad, like Buzz, he is now the last surviving member of his family. My one and only uncle passed away. He was a WWII fighter pilot of some historical note. He taught me to fly fish..tie flys. He was 92 years old.

Hope Everybody Has a Great Day.
