I didn't ask for it either, but ( being more intelligent than the rest of you muppets ) I can appreciate why it is here.

It's actually quite funny that people seem to be upset about being given a specific forum to rant about polititcs etc in Nothing has been removed, no civil or literal rights have been curtailed, we can all talk as much BS as we want, but, with an extra category/place to do it in.

Being the totalitarian humanist that I am, I'd have wanted it to be an opt in/opt out forum myself ( just so I could really say what I mean ) but it's not even that.

Freedom of speach is not ever infringed by having a new place/subset/subfora to do it in...

well, the total from the membership is up to one, now. Maybe two, counting Yellow.

well, the whole subforum thing got discussed on Tolwyn's forum for suggestions, and most seemed to want LESS forums, not more. I'm in that camp personally, and rather enjoy a one-spot-for everything approach.

All great points, indeed. However, all humour aside, the subforum thing had less than 12 replies and mine was a youtube clip based on a Ruggbutt comment, which wasn't really anything to do with forums. Some others were just replies with smilies etc, it wasn't really a poll or a straw poll or anything really.

Personally, I love this place, love the banter and the rants and the freedom to post BS. It's great fun.

But also, sometimes even a fun thread veers off into stuff that I'd prefer it didn't, so, again, just personally, I'd prefer a place for more contentious/serious stuff, so that if and when I want to get into that genre of bullshit, I can easily find it and respond/post it.

Other online groups I am a member of, had the same kind of thing happen a few years back, it initially had pretty much the same response as we have here, then settled back into a happy medium and all was well again.

Again, and this is important, I had no input to the decision, would not have even suggested it either, but, see no issue with it being in place.

All the above is just my perception and impression. Some people might see a slippery slope, others might be too drug or booze addled to notice, and Ruggie will be busy shooting cats. I just don't get the reason for the uproar.
