Lawmakers call for probe into 'botched' ATF sting in Milwaukee

Several members of Congress are calling for an investigation into an embarrassing series of blunders made by the Milwaukee arm of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after a newspaper reported this week that the agency conducted a months-long undercover operation that cost taxpayers thousands of dollars and netted very few results.

“I am intent on getting to the bottom of the botched ATF sting in Milwaukee,” Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., told FoxNews.com Thursday night.
Sensenbrenner along with Sen. Charles Grassley, and Reps. Darrell Issa and Robert Goodlatte, have sent a letter to Acting ATF Director Todd Jones asking the agency to look into allegations reported in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The newspaper claims that the agency conducted a deeply flawed sting operation that resulted in a still-missing machine gun being taken from an agent’s car, thousands of taxpayer dollars being lost in merchandise and angry residents saying that ATF officials reintroduced crime into their neighborhood. The operation comes on the heels of the botched Operation Fast and Furious anti-gun trafficking program.

Those ATF clowns can't police themselves and our current laws/regulations.
They can't even fire each other, let alone, cover their tracks.

a more nuanced coverage(ie-no Fox hysteria) was forwarded to me from a friend linking the the local paper's coverage. Yes, they seem to have fucked that up, badly. Which is evidence, of nothing else, that you cannot run an agency with nobody in charge. The acting ATF head has a full time job outside Washington, and can't ever be expected to have a tight control over the agency. Problem #1. My friend suggests that the ATF needs a complete overhaul, and is likely correct, too, as an unsupervised group tends to get badly out of control. Both of these issues, however, go back to NRA meddling in the staffing and funding of the ATF, more than anything else.

Obama's failure to place someone in "charge" of the ATF is the problem.
It's alot like the No Budget for the last four years, ya gonna blame that on
the NRA, too. Obama, after four years, still don't know how to run a government.
Not to mention, after four years, you ain't figured that out.

speaking of not figuring stuff out, who gave you the notion that the President creates the budget? That is Congress' job, the executive merely executes the budget. You breadth of ignorance in only barely surpassed by your lack of grasp on the English language, or interest in unbiased reportage.
