Solid state "hard drive"

I now have a solid state hard drive.
From off to fully booted in Viendows 7 is under 20 seconds!
Silent and very very very fast.

Rebooting after a power interruption or software crash always seems
to make Viendows take extra time to boot. Not so with the solid state drive.
Still under 20 seconds.

This is an old AMD "Quadfarther" socket 1207 dual cpu machine with
SATA ver 1.5. Still the speed is astounding. VERY happy with the upgrade!

It is a Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F480GBGT-BK 2.5" 480GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive

The only unproven issue is long term reliability.

Time will tell.

The Viendows performance test pegs this old pig at 7.9. Not bad for an "old" machine.
4X Nvidia 295's helps i think

No stutter on any game at full except some custom maps in Unreal Tournament III
with a 1920x1024 monitor

I went that route two years ago...no regrets.
Two weeks ago...set the wife's computer up the same way.

I'm now running a AMD 8350...eight cores of goodness...@ 4.6ghz, watercooled
with a H110...EVGA HD 570GTX w/ 2.5 gig vram.

Now back to IL2 1946 & HSFX full time. :D

Barfly, with the HSFX Mods....it's exciting and fun again.
Visuals will blow you away compared to the old original version.
AI is much improved and smarter.
Especially, if you're in a good squad...I are. :D

Water cooling for two CPUs and two X2 video cards was a nightmare
and it requires a bit of attention to details like leaks and water levels.
But it is worth it. Two AMD FX72 and the Nvidia 295s are still hard to beat.
I have three water pumps, three heat exchangers and several water manifolds.
A plumbers nightmare! But few computers can equal it after 7 years! (and many upgrades).

Ya me "T" (Tolwyn), Card, Surly, Faust, Rev etc yous'ta slaughter all other squads we challenged, lol. Ran out of opponents really. I don't do any flight shooters anymore, I should check it out. Spend most of my time flying / beta testing stuff for FSX.

We messed with SEOW a bit early on, is it still an ongoing thing? It seemed like a never-ending development.
