Sure, Manning is a really good player. But he's a really good player on a really good team. He's just another cog in a well oiled machine that's filled with really good cogs. Pull Manning, throw in a backup QB, and Indy will still win games. On the other hand, throw in a couple of "average" WR's and watch Manning's numbers start to go south!

Now, check this out.
Chris Johnson racked up 2,509 yards from scrimmage this year. That's more than any player.....EVER.....IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE!
At one point his team was 0 - 6. That's when he was getting around 18 touches per game.
When they started giving him around 28 touches per game his team finished the season going 8 - 2 and they had an outside chance at the playoffs!

0 - 6 to start (when they were barely using him), 8 - 2 to finish (when they started using him) a shot at the playoffs......thanks to Chris Johnson.

2,509 yards from scrimmage!
11 straight games with over 100 yards rushing!
People, THAT is what I call an MVP!
I'm sorry, but I could have sworn that MVP stood for MOST VALUABLE PLAYER !!!!!!

If Chris Johnson wasn't the most valuable player in the NFL this year then there is something seriously fucked up in the MVP balloting process!
And to prove my point....Johnson didn't get a single vote for MVP!
That's right. Not a single vote. Zero.

The Associated Press' panel of sportswriters should be ashamed of themselves.

I agree, completely. Mannings numbers weren't even that spectacular, and as you state, he plays for
a solid all-around team.

its the same thing in the NBA, either LBJ or Kobe will get the MVP. and they BOTH play on VERY good teams. but I'll make my case right now for Brandon Roy for MVP, what he has done so far this season on a team that has lost 4 rotational players and 7 players over all for an extended period inc BOTH centers for the season and yet have his team 1/2 game out of first place and 1 game out of the #2 seed in the west with a 23-15 record is nothing short of amazing. the man deserves the MVP. but sadly in both the NBA and NFL the MVP is a popularity contest and NOT who is the most valuable player.
